The only thing I could say that was decent is I got a two-piece fish and chips and the fish was cooked good. My son had a hair in his food the clams were not clean by any means they still have their poop sacks all in it. And they made an excuse they had a rush. A couple was waiting over an hour and then got told that their order was going to be on hold for 40 more minutes. The one waitress was amazing the other one should not be a waitress. The one waitress was rude and didn't pay attention the one with the blonde hair dressed like a 50s woman the other girl with the brown hair was very professional and tried to make things better the other one just wanted to argue. The chicken fingers did not taste like chicken. And clearly has been cooked in the same grease as the fish and clams you can taste it. Even when I complain they did not try to make it better the other person i was with ordered clams and fish and they charged her for it but she never received the fish. This is my last day in Nova Scotia and I was really hoping to have a good dinner before we left but unfortunately it was ruined with disgusting food...
Read moreWe thought we would try this place on our way through Chester. What a mistake. We were not greeted or seated until we told the girl that the sign said, “please wait to be seated”. She said that we could sit where we wanted. There was not a clean table in the restaurant despite being the only ones in the place. We ordered two orders of fish and chips. I ordered a side of gravy for the fries. I mistook the gravy initially for beans because of the bean sized lumps in it. It was too thick to pour. Disgusting. Not only that my fish tasted awful and the fries were burnt in both meals. Perhaps if the cook and the girl spent less time chatting, and actually did their jobs, this experience would not have been so bad. As for drinks, we asked for lots of water, to only be given a half glass of water with ice. Never did she come back to check on us, offer anything more to drink or dessert- even though at the outset she told us there wasn’t any pie. The ambiance of the restaurant was cute but dead. No sound. No music. We won’t be back. We will wait in line for The Island View next time. This was $27...
Read moreWe had an excellent experience at The Stretch Diner! From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the owner, Todd, takes real pride in his restaurant and it truly shows. The diner was spotless, the atmosphere welcoming, and the staff went above and beyond with their friendliness and quick service.
The food was the real highlight. The fish was fresh, never frozen, and you could taste the difference right away. The batter was perfectly crisp without that heavy fishy taste some places have, and the homemade tartar sauce was absolutely delicious. Our onion rings were crispy and golden, and the coleslaw was fresh and tangy.
Another thing we noticed was how quickly everything came out, despite being freshly made. It’s rare to find that balance of speed and quality, but The Stretch Diner nails it.
If you’re looking for classic diner comfort food done right, with fresh ingredients, great flavors, and a team that cares about their customers…this is the place to go. Highly recommended, and we’ll...
