Update; Drove down from Halifax and this time we brought friends. They were soo pleased with the FRESHEST FISH EVER! 5*

Wow👌, we were pleasantly surprised! This unassuming Seafood by the pound restaurant was the best fish and chips we have experienced! Having eaten hundreds of orders of fish and chips, this is no small statement. With the closing of the turkey burger restaurant and fries and Co in Halifax, we were shocked at how good this very thin battered haddock was! I had to know what they did? I asked to speak with the owners. Janice and Ranil live locally and with their 2 daughters, Kris & Kathleen they run the Maritime Hook 🪝 Seafood Market and Take Out 😋. She shared with me that the very thin tempura style better is seasoned with an old family recipe! It is what was giving the fish a unique flavor that made it the best we've ever had! The handmade coleslaw and tartar sauce was again the best we've had! It's hard to say anything better than it being the best, and with the hundreds if not thousands of fish and chip meals we've experienced, it's saying a lot. The front counter experience was delightful as her daughter's bring a positive spirit which is just oozing out of this location! Simple and understated is the premises. Clean and respectful and well served is what the customer's experience. Everything you need in a fabulous Seafood dinner. You cannot get fresher than this! Look your fish in the eye, before you see him on the plate! LOL we will be returning 100%. This meal was so overwhelmingly good, I ordered an extra large Fish and Chips To Go! This little local seafood market and takeaway (but you can also eat on site) is a true hidden gem! We stopped to have lunch and just loved it. It may look a bit inconspicuous from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The small menu offers dishes from classic to creative at absolutely fair prices. The portions are large, the ingredients are fresh and the preparation is on point. Our food was incredibly delicious! The operators are friendly and attentive, we immediately felt welcome. It's a shame we were just passing through, otherwise we would definitely become regulars here. Be sure to try the desserts too, they are to die for. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely pay the Maritime...

WOW!😳❤️ Apologies to the local restaurants but Maritime Hook Seafood Market ( across from Subway// where the Chinese Restaurant used to be) has amazing fish n' Chips, the best around in my opinion. If you haven't gone yet, don't delay! You'll be very happy you've found this gem that caters to take out. Prices are very reasonable and offer nice sized servings.
