I know that this is a long review but this is very important.
One of the greatest dining experiences of my life!
First. The entry experience. As you drive up to this fine dining experience you see the iconic Mr Chicken logo. It brings a tear to my eye every time I see it. You park in very busy car park ready to start your experience.
The service. The service at Mr Chicken is impeckable. Your food is made rapidly by some incredibly talented chefs who have trained under some of the best chefs on Cape Breton Island. They always have a smile on their face and look super happy to be there. I wish I could work at Mr Chicken!
The food. The food at Mr Chicken is probably the best I have ever had. Seriously, the Michelin Guide needs to get down to this place. It is so good that they will need to create a 4th star to award to this fine dining establishment. Their menu is vast. Many people think that the fried chicken is where Mr Chicken shines but I think that it is the ice cream. This heavenly substance has the perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness with a fantastic mouth feel. If you are going to make the trip out to Mr Chicken then I suggest that you order most of items on the menu to experience and try a little of everything. My favourite items are: the worm and dirt ice cream. A fantastic dish taking the idea of things like worms and dirt and transforming the idea into a stand out dish. The hot fudge sundae is also fantastic, super rich and decadent with an array of flavours. And the milkshake selection is fantastic, super sweet and creamy!
If you haven’t figured out already, I love this place. That is why I am giving it 5 stars, there are absolutely no complaints from me.
I know what you are going to ask. Is this my favourite restaurant? I don’t want to decide to quickly as it was only 2 weeks ago that I ate here and I still need to really think about the revolutionary flavours that this place uses but I think… that this is my number one restaurant in the world! I would climb Mount Everest to come here again. I would wrestle a shark to come here again. I would jump off of Niagara Falls to come here again. And it is only about $7 for most things on the menu!
So yes, no matter where you are in the world, you need to cancel all of your plans to come to this world...
Read morechicken was way too salty . I think the batter was pure salt . 3 piece and fries was only a 2 piece as one was litterly a battered piece of bone . fries were basically mcCains crinkle cut fries nothing special and the gravy well we asked for a small and oh it was small all right . Extremely small but not cheap by no means. small gravy should actually be called the mini gravy but at $2.50 you would certainly expect a little bigger. Also I would recommend that the workers in back always wear hair nets , and not scratch at their head or chin while in food prep area or be eating and playing with their cellphone while getting food ready. Bill was $36.19 for 2 - 3 piece with fries and a extremely small gravy which is a bit pricey. Tried it and I can honestly say it was not good at all. unless you like deep fried salt and...
Read moreI recently dined at Mr. Chicken, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. I ordered the Hot Chicken sandwich, which turned out to be nothing more than fried chicken pieces sandwiched between two buns with gravy. The gravy was all over the bun which made the bun too soggy and the gravy was the worst gravy I had ever in life. The flavor was lacking, and it left much to be desired. Additionally, I tried the popcorn chicken poutine, which also lacked flavor and was rather bland. They use the same gravy for everything. The accompanying fries were devoid of taste and lacked salt. Overall, the meal was unsatisfying, and I wouldn't recommend it based on...
