LITTLE BEETLE IS A CHILLIWACK GEM, OUR NEW FAMILY STAPLE INDEED!
WHAT WE ORDERED : Little Beetle Breakfast, Fried Chicken Benny, Kids Meal Pancake, Kids Meal French Toast, Hot Chocolate, Espresso and Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
THE SERVICE : We were greeted as we go in, the place is full with people on the waiting line as well (this is midweek - Wednesday). After about 10 minutes, we were seated and handed with a menu and was offered a baby chair for our daughter, together with a coloring sheet and a twisties for colors. Small details that we appreciate is that, the colors are not broken crayons, it is a non toxic twisties and placed in a clean porcelain animal container.
The staff are all polite, efficient, attentive and proactive (considering it is a full house), they do a regular rounds to check if you need water refill, if the food is satisfactory and if you need anything else in general. We also noticed how fast they clean the table every after dining guest/s.
A quick look at their kitchen area, I observed how everything is organize inside and chef/s are all wearing a neat uniform (a five star feel for food prep area). They are not in chaos, eventhough they are full.
THE FOOD : (The highlight of our dine in experience)
The food is served between 15 to 20 minutes after ordering, it is freshly cook, warm and the presentation is executed very well (excuse the photo of the half eaten french toast).
All the food that we have ordered, upto the drinks are very well made, they even have a machine for a freshly squeezed orange juice (our 20 month daughter loved it). All our meals were SUPERB and DELICIOUS.
Their hash browns is tasty and crunchy (this is the very first time I was able to finish this part of my dish), their fried chicken benny is juicy and all that comes with it are delightfully tasty as well. My husband had the little beetle breakfast and I must say that it is equally deliscious as well. What we appreciate is that, they allowed us to swap our thick cut bacon to their farmers style sausage, it is very well made as well.
Our daughter had the pancake and at the end, we made an additional order of french toast. Their pancake have a very distinct and uniqe taste, very subtle and very unique, it is soft in the middle with a crunchy edges, the cream is also a generous portion and their maple butter complements the whole dish perfectly. She (and us) enjoyed this dish very much and the same goes for their french toast.
THE VERDICT : If you have not tried this restaurant before, then, you are missing out a great service, superb food - at a pocket friendly pricing.
We will definetly be back and introduce this gem to our family and...
Read moreWe’ve been loyal customers of this restaurant since their old location, always enjoying the great food and warm, welcoming atmosphere. It truly felt like home every time we came in. The food was always fantastic, and it was the perfect spot for a simple, family-friendly meal. However, our recent visit left us feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed.
It seems the restaurant has changed direction, adopting a policy that requires one person at the table to order a full meal—regardless of whether they can eat it or even afford it. This was never the case before. In fact, we’ve always been able to order just sides of pancakes, no problem. But now, this new rule is enforced, and it was frustrating to experience, especially when there is no clear signage about it—either on the website, the menu, or in the restaurant itself.
What struck us the most was how the staff is put in a very awkward position to enforce this rule, especially when they themselves are just following instructions from above. We understand that every business has the right to set policies, but this feels very discriminatory, especially in a small community like Chilliwack. It’s uncomfortable for both the patrons and the staff.
For example, you can’t even order a simple coffee and a single pancake anymore without being asked to leave, with the owner coming over to lecture you about their new "rules." This is not the same place we used to love—it feels less like a restaurant and more like they are trying to get to a Michelin-starred establishment that’s forgetting its roots. Theres no consistency, no explanation, no catering to the clients. So disappointing.
We miss the old spot—where you felt respected, not judged. We’re not sure if we’ll return if this new policy remains in place. It’s unfortunate because the food and the atmosphere are still great, but it’s the way customers are now being treated that’s the...
Read moreI came to the Little Beetle on a Whim when another restaurant I was planning on going was closed. I was glad that I came to Little Beetle. I had to wait a while for since it was Victoria weekend, but the wait was worth it. Their menu is very unique as far as breakfast choices go. I ordered their Chicken & Croffle with coffee and Iced London Fog. The croffle tasted great, and like it was freshly baked too. I liked the sauces that came with the croffle, such as the fruit mousse and the lemon curd The chicken was very moist and crunchy. The coffee was okay, however, I recommend the Iced London Fog, since it is the restaurant's popular beverage. That beverage was very aromatic in flavour and refreshing. The service was great as well; the waiters came to my table as often as possible, even when the establishment was busy.
The 2nd time I came to the Little Beetle, it was relocated to the Vedder Pointe Shopping Centre, which is closer to town. The establishment was much nicer looking and bigger than the last venue. I still had to wait a while for table, due to how busy it was when I arrived, but I believe the wait was worth it. I ordered the CHWC Brekkie platter with a Latte. the latte was milky yet creamy with an earthy flavour to it, like a great latte would taste like. The platter was overall fantastic. The toast was good and came with herb garlic butter, then hashbrown were solid good and the smoked salmon was succulent, fresh and flavourful. The thick cut bacon was excellent; very meaty and tasty because of the maple glazed it had on. The sausage was great as well with the herbs and melted white cheese inside. The service there was as top-notch as the last time I visited.
I highly recommend Little Beetle to anyone to eat at for...
