Smitty's Family Restaurant - Cold Lake — Restaurant in City of Cold Lake

I will never go to this location ever again. I was more than excited to finally go to smittys as it had been some time since my last visit, however after my latest visit I will never again eat at this location due to the complete lack of professionalism and a complete lack of a "comfortable family oriented atmosphere" one would expect from a name like smittys. Before I even sat down I was treated as if I was low class scum I asked to use the washroom in which had a code to unlock the door and instead of being told the cold I was told it had to be opened for me as it was difficult to do on my own, next we were being pushed to order although the third person to our party had yet to arrive. Once our group was complete we asked for a few moments to go over the menu, the waitress didn't come back for at least 20 mins when I finally got sick of waiting and signaled her to come over. We then Order and the waitress goes to the back, she then comes back telling me that she needed me to pay before receiving our meals, the restaurant was packed and not a single other table was prompted to pay before getting their food.. I openly ask the waitress just how many others in the room had to pay first before she then looks away and says a lot of them do I shook my head and told her that she was lying and that she better hope to be embarrassed because I would comply with her preposterous request and I would be doing so by paying cash... I then paid the exact amount shown on the receipt and not a cent over... I get that we looked a little rough but little did this waitress know but 2 of the people siting at the table "looking rough" did so because a week previously their home burnt to the ground and they had nothing left to their names. I had even considered getting a room for the night at the hotel it was attached to but after this treatment they will be Lucky I spend another dime at this location I had never been so embarrassed in my life and it made me not even want to eat their overly priced and less than "standard quiality" food let alone give a tip and not feel like I was being profiled and mistreated in a time that would be difficult for anyone. I went to this restaurant at least three times before making this review. Each time I went, the level of service that was provided was consistently very low. The waitress never ever came back to check on us after we'd been served our food or drinks so I had to physically leave the table to find the waitress so I could get a drink refill.

On each occasion, I ordered a different menu item but the absolute worst order was the prime rib. To start, it's a pretty thin piece of meat but the worst part was that it was way too overcooked. In fact, it looked like it was cut and heated (at least) a day before and then reheated again for my order. So, it was pretty dry. What a terrible meal. I did mention it to the waitress and a few dollars was taken off my order but the problem is that the substandard food should have never been served to a customer in the first place. In the end, the restaurant saved money by not discarding that overcooked piece of meat but they lost multiple customers...

Have gone twice hoping the second would redeem itself and will never go back again. First time the server brought out all our food at once, our whole table was packed, starters and mains then told us we couldn’t take wings home it was half night. Had to argue that all the food was brought at once Second time (went back for drinks) we clarified that we would like starters (2 wings , fries, and ginger beef) and mains. 1 order of wings and ginger beef was brought out Our mains were brought out and we had to flag the waitress down to ask where the rest of our starters.
