Pho and Rice Lacombe — Restaurant in City of Lacombe

Feeling like Pho, we sought out this place in Lacombe.

I had the House Special Pho Soup. My wife had the combo 2 vermicelli rice bowl. We started with an appetizer of shrimp Salad rolls.

The salad rolls were good, although we ran out of the peanut sauce. My wife very much liked the vermicelli bowl.

The Pho I ordered was good... but the soup was really lacking color. I believe you eat with your eyes. I could have used some slivers of carrots, some more green onions, red cabbage, radish... something. The soup was very brown, but it was tasty. Especially after a bit of chili crisp added.

The portions were generous. We left satisfied.

A decent place. Not the best, but not the worst. My craving...

The salad rolls were delicious. We had the vegetarian option. I had vegetarian curry with rice. I think it could certainly be better. Lots of sticky rice with little sauce and even less vegetables. Only 3 types of vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Cut too small and definitely not enough. Curry was spicy hot and had a bit of a grainy texture. I think that is an indication of too much curry spice not cooking long enough with too little liquid. My husband had vermicelli with beef. He said it was pretty good. Really fresh ingredients. So end result, kind of hit and miss based on what you order. I thought the serving size was a little less than most other Vietnamese...

I ordered the satay beef pho and the wonton soup. I ordered a side of kimchi. This is my first pho experience. It was super flavourful, lacking a bit on the amount of meat in the soup there was only a few pieces, there is an option to add extra. The wonton soup was great and flavourful, huge wontons and the kimchi was a small serving but definitely the best kimchi I’ve had! I will definitely try other dishes next time because I’m eager to try some new things as their menu is large! My four stars is due to the small amount of meat and maybe some more veggies could be added to the pho, that being said I don’t know if traditional pho has a lot of veggies in it. Good delivery...
