Golden Pine used to be our place to go before we moved…. We thought we’d give it a try again as I was in the area.. but after this last order, we are thinking maybe we should try some where else. I called in to place my order, and knew the price of what I ordered based on their online menu. I was not told the price over the phone. When I came in to pick up, my order was $40 more than the price listed online! When I asked the individual behind the counter why it was so much more, she said that they haven’t upgraded their prices online yet and that this was now the cost, and that she had told me the price over the phone….. I know she didn’t but Ok- understood- prices have gone up….So I tried to pay visa, and their machine was down. On Multiple attempts to pay- she put in different cost amounts ranging in $3-5 more than she quoted me (this is before tip option). Since I didn’t want to continue this and potentially be overcharged- I go and take out cash to pay. The food was ok… not as great as I remember it being. For these reasons I’m...
Read moreThis has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The food is really good, the employees are friendly, and I've never had a bad experience.
When Tang Dynasty closed its doors in Bowmanville, I was disappointed because it was my favourite restaurant in town for quite some time. Win Yeung Garden is good, but it's never tasted as fresh. Thus, I decided to give Golden Pine -- a place I'd gotten food from once or twice several years ago -- again, and fell in love with it. Since then, we've ordered takeout on average twice per month, and have also eaten in.
My grandfather used to be a regular at another restaurant, but now he always wants to get his Chinese food from Golden Pine. We've started having it for family dinners, as opposed to the other restaurant, and extended family have talked about how good it is. My uncle thinks their General Tsao chicken is the best he's ever had, and I agree.
The pricing is pretty good, but can be a bit expensive in comparison to places like Win Yeung Garden. However, the food is great.

First off I'd like to say the reviews were pretty misleading - I like to check reviews first before I go somewhere and I assume people have taste buds, but I was fooled again. This is the most bland so called Chinese food I've probably ever had. The beef was chewy like they used the lowest cut of meat to make beef broccoli, the chicken was sparse and bland for each one of my dishes I tried (I tried three chicken fried rice the chicken chop suey and the Shanghai noodle with chicken). The only decent thing about the meal were the egg rolls but they were probably pre-made by somebody else.
Not what I expected for almost 50 bucks. I should have just gone to Oshawa buffet around the corner - they're usually...
