My review of Molly's Country Kitchen (spoiler alert: its a long review and the climax is when the waitress starts yelling at us in front of everyone)
Worst breakfast experience of my life...
I just left Molly's with my girlfriend and my cousin. I was taking them out for his birthday. We went there in a good mood and with fair expectations. I liked the menu and the concept, unfortunately we never had the opportunity to try the food. In fact, I never had the opportunity to taste the water i asked for upon being seated. The waitress came back 5 times, top orders, brought coffee and referenced my water multiple times but never once brought my water. I patiently waited and waited and waited, without being rude or causing any issues. After 15-20 minutes i left and went to a convenience store next door to purchase a bottle of water. While I was gone I received a text message from my girlfriend telling me the waitress was being rude to her. Apparently the waitress came back twice more without the water and then laughed and suggested she bring it, at which point my girlfriend Indicated that I left to get one. The waitress was then rude and aggressive towards my girlfriend, getting upset with her and being loud and defensive about how busy she was. Id like to add that this was unprovoked; we were patient and In good spirits. When I returned to the restaurant, i went directly to the waitress and asked to speak to the manager in which she replied I'm a sarcastic and spiteful tone, "I am the manager, how can I help you?" I then replied by saying, "in that case we are leaving." That is when things escalated even further, she began to yell at me In the restaurant in front of everyone. I quickly advanced to the door and told her that her yelling at me was incredibly unprofessional. As I was leaving I asked to speak with the owner, she told me the owner would be In during the week and I said that I would speak with him. She then replied in a disgusting and shrewd tone, "I will definitely be speaking to him about you."
We weren't rude at all and certainly didn't deserve that treatment. I recognized the waitress was busy and waited patiently for my drink and she indicated multiple times that she was getting me water. After she didnt, we still weren't rude and upon leaving, we still remained composed. Her attitude was appalling and she should be ashamed of herself. I don't know how someone like that became a manager but that is enough to turn me off from ever visiting that establishment again. I left Molly's feeling incredibly insignificant as a patron and bullied by a waitress/manager who is either incredibly unprofessional or was just having a horrible day but again, incredibly unprofessional to unload that baggage on us. I plan to speak with the owner this week when he is in and for now I'd like to share my experience through social media to warn others about the atrocious service at Molly's country kitchen in courtice, Ontario.
On the plus slide, we drove to a wimpy diner 5 mins away on highway 2 and the service was great! My water arrived with my coffee this time and in only 2 minutes and guess what? The waitress not only seemed willing to serve us but she seemed happy to serve us. I actually felt like they wanted us there and that we weren't an inconvenience. I tipped the waitress 35 percent and will most certainly be going back the next time I decide to go for breakfast, unfortunately as much as I would like try Molly's food, I don't feel like that's an option. Looking at other reviews from molly's, this isnt the first situation like this and some of them give me hints that it was probably the same waitress. Sadly I feel like she must be good at persuading her boss to believe her fabricated side of things otherwise she wouldn't be employed as a manager, either that or he just doesn't care... I guess we will see.
Molly's country kitchen is not professional and will not value your patronage. Don't waste your time and money, go somewhere where your service is wanted and not viewed as an...
Read moreI was excited to try Molly's because I had heard reasonable things. There were several negatives with my experience and I will not be returning.
The main concern I had after ordering a 6oz New York Strip was that the meat that came was grey. I don't mean overcooked meat that becomes textureless I mean dead cold left out of the fridge for a week and has gone rancid grey. There is no way anything about that steak should have been acceptable to the person cooking it. It was cooked to a medium rare as I had asked but it was completely bloodless. I'm sure the health department would be concerned if they had seen what I was served. The waitress quickly ushered it away and brought a suitable replacement but I was charged full price for the meal.
It was a very greasy meal and felt very heavy in the stomach after eating. They've tried to simplify the menu by listing the ordering process by number, but it has been made confusing and difficult to follow. I applaud the creative process taken, but breakfast is pretty simple to order and a good ol' fashioned menu is never a bad thing.
To top it all off, half of our group were without their meal for about 15 minutes once our orders started to come out, and the last one to receive her food was a 2 year old. Typically a child's order should be the first one out. We had to ask for more coffee and the waitress never came by to ask how the food was once we finally did get everything on the table.
Breakfast is pretty simple. There are lots of other choices around that are better priced, better food and better service. The rotting meat though was the worst thing I've seen yet in...
Read moreAfter church on Sundays we had been going to mollys for breakfast as a family. The lady with blonde hair always serves us and we enjoy her service. Today after church we decided to go again. There was a bit of a wait (which we didn't mind). We walked in and my mom tried to ask the older server with the darker hair how long the wait would be, she looked and my mom and then just walked right past her. As this server came back again I tried getting her attention and asking her again how long the wait would be for five people and she said rudely "I don't know at least half hour", as I quickly went to correct myself to say that I meant four not five she looked up at me in front of the entire restaurant loudly and said are you going to be giving me a hard time this entire time cause if so just leave!!! My mother and I and all the customers around that heard all looked stunned! I looked at her and said I was simply correcting my error on the amount of people. She continued to make rude remarks and said just get out of here. I asked for the manager and she said I'm the manager and you aren't welcome now get out of here !!!! I was appalled I said I'll wait to speak to the owner and she laughed rudely and said good luck you'll be waiting until 3. A potential table of clients left because of her disgusting attitude. I've been a server for 15 years and her behaviour at her age or any age for that matter...
