I remembered the big boy location in whitby, which was always really good. so I decided to head in for a little lunch date with my girl. The fella taking orders was pleasant. We ordered a burger combo and a chicken sandwich combo. We sat and waited for the food to be made and got a chance to look around and take in the aptomesphere. With the very low lighting it was pleasant, however the lack of light must be making it hard for the cleaners to notice the months, if not years of cobwebs and dust built up on the walls and window frames. Foods done fairly quick, probably for the best as i stopped looking around, lol. Let's start with the fries as they were the star of the show. They are made fresh and pleasantly thick cut russet potatoes fried and tossed in a dash of salt. We both enjoyed the fries, but that's where it stops. We moved onto the main of our 35-plus dollar meal. The burger was the first one opened. Upon first appearance, it was a salad on a bun. There was a patty hiding in amongst the toppings. It was mushy, slightly gray, and looked as if it was just a frozen patty from a grocery store. Now, onto my chicken sandwich, only lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo ordered. Upon first appearance, it was a well-done breaded frozen chicken fillet with a pile of lettuce a drizzle of mayo and a single 2-inch slice of tomato. I tried to take a bite and just gave up, as it was so crunchy and dri. I ended up swapping my girlfriend for the burger, and at that point, I regretted driving by Burger King earlier.
Save your money and just go to the drive-through next door for a cheaper similar...
Read moreWent here on a whim during a road trip. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and everything on the menu looked delicious. We got our toppings settled and were off to the benches out front.
Then came the abrubt shift from a simple burger joint to a burger experiance.
I pulled from the bag a massive burger, hefting it like mjolnir in my mortal hands. Pools of saliva were forming at my feet. Unconsciously i felt my jaw dislocate, unhinging like a snake's. Then it all went black in a burst of pure flavour-induced dopamine. Everything was juicy, crunchy, soft, spicy, and my senses were utterly overloaded. Finally I opened my eyes, and the burger was gone; its spattered remnants the only proof it even existed. Blissfully confused, I crunched my way through the remaining onion rings and hired a tow truck to drag me to my car. 5 hours later I awoke, finally pulling out of the driveway. I laughed as I drove past the tim hortons, wendys, and mcdonalds next door to Big Boy's. They quake in its shadow and must surely go out of business soon.
Thank you, Big Boy's. We will return....
Read more5 stars for the burger itself, and the staff. The lad doing fries - don't plunk people's fries up on the tray until the burger is ready, dressed, and served. My fries weren't even lukewarm, rather hard and nasty. No issues with the staff on my visit. Music is hard-rock format, and it will be on the loud side. There are condiments beside the drink cooler. Unlike other B.B.B. locations, this one does not have a drink fountain, but rather bottled drinks in a fridge. Mine was cold, rather like my fries were. Did not visit the washroom. Access is all on one level once you make it up the curb between the parking lot and the door, so one step up (there may be a dip/ramp in the concrete curb for walkers/crutches/'chairs). There are booths, stools at outer counters, and standing room around a central counter. Once you get past the prices, you'll definitely enjoy your burger. Next time I go, despite the attraction to the burgers, I plan to try some of the other items. Have visited their Whitby locations a few times, so I had no doubt that their burgers at this new location...
