Unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this review in order to express my frustration with this specific location.
The difference between this location and the nearby Port Hope McDonalds is mind blowing. Port Hope McDonalds ought to be a golden standard for every other restaurant out there. It is only because these two locations are so CLOSE and yet so DIFFERENT that I have begun to notice the frequent and disappointing results of doing business with the Cobourg McDonalds.
I think the number one issue this McDonalds has is ORDER ACCURACY. I don't fully understand the inner-workings of the McDonalds system, however there is CLEARLY some sort of communication issue happening between the order window and the kitchen. At least 60% of the time, something with my order is wrong and I am forced to go inside or go through the drivethru a second time.
The second issue is ORDER PREPATION. Cobourg McDonalds, for whatever reason, prefers not to make the food fresh when you order and instead will give you an item cooked earlier in the day. You MUST request an order be made fresh if you want it fresh. If I order a McDouble with no pickles or onions, I will receive a McDouble that has been WIPED, rather than a freshly made one, as though I cannot taste the pickle juice that has already penetrated the pores of my beef burger. I have LITERALLY NEVER had this problem with the Port Hope McDonalds, and I have made thousands of dollars in impulse purchases at that location over the years.
At this point, I prefer to make the trip all the way to Port Hope and back if I want McDonalds for dinner, as the quality difference is HUGE. I made the mistake of going to the Cobourg location for breakfast today, and as usual they screwed up my order and ended up overcharging me because they did not confirm the total with me prior to taking payment. It is conceivably my mistake for not confirming myself, however I still think that the employees ought to be doing a better job with quality assurance.
Overall, I think that this McDonalds is currently in a very pathetic state, especially when compared to the nearby Almost-Perfect Port Hope location. This may sound hardcore, but I genuinely hope that corporate will fire and replace every single employee in order to root out the problem and get this location back to a state where customers do not feel obligated to inspect their bags every time before...

My friend and I were sitting in the McDonalds drive through for 10 minutes or so, there were two males standing in one of the lanes waiting to have their order taken. A worker tries to take our order but since the two males were on foot and there before us we told her to let them go first. The worker took their order, the males got a 2-3 burgers, drinks⌠whatever. The worker asks us what we would like and as my friend was saying her order the worker cut her off and said the only thing they are offering is ice cream because they are closing in 30 minutes. My friend got upset since the two males order burgers 2 seconds ago and now she canât get hers? My friend expressed her feelings, then the worker took her order again. Her order: medium Sprite McDouble only ketchup. We were sitting in the drive through for about 5 minutes, the two males come to us explaining how the workers are turning everyone away because their grill was broken. Seems odd how at first you didnât wanna take my friends order, you ended up taking her order, then your grill broke? We ended up going to the window and they gave us her burger, as the worker handed over the burger my friend asked âketchup only right?â The worker said âyesâ Weird how she got her food and the boys didnât? When they ordered firstđ¤
We go and sit in the parking lot she takes a couple fries, they were hard as a rock, and cold. They were not fresh what so ever, she ends up getting her burger and as she took a bite of her burger her tongue starts to go numb, the burger had mustard, ketchup and a pickle on it. Keep in mind sheâs allergic to mustard we go back to the window and ask for a refund, the worker went to talk to her manager and they said âno we can give you a couponâ My friend expressed how she doesnât want a coupon, she doesnât want to come back, sheâs upset and would like her money back. She reminded the manger she made sure it was ketchup only when she handed her the foodâŚ. We sat there for 5 minutes arguing with the manger for a refund. My friend finally got her money back.

Upon getting one of the two drinks I had asked for, I was asked to pull ahead as we were waiting for fries. When the employee brought the food to the window, I asked about the other drink I never received. She immediately started arguing with me about how NO you did not order another drink, I simply said I did and if you didn't hear it i cant help that, but my Friend heard me order it so not sure why arguing was the solution.
She finally said, fine! I'll get you a drink, even though you did NOT order it. i repeated that I had ordered it and she went on about how she had the reciept, and it wasn't on there. We of course we're not given a reciept and she argued about this as well.
My friend opened his grilled chicken, dry, black no sauce , no lettuce and when we asked about this she started arguing about this as well.
We eventually pulled back around to the window, wanting the sandwich fixed and my drink I never received.
The manager was trying to put out the fire she had made, telling us the staff aren't properly trained and new. I simply requested my reciept, which took 3 of them fumbling around on there computer to produce one.
The service at this store has to be the worst service of any restaurant I have been to in YEARS! It was atrocious! And the constant Arguing from the young female staff was beyond anything I've ever witnessed!
From the time we arrived, to the time they produced a reciept and us on our way was 38 minutes!
