Our first time trying Tandoori Smoke, for no good reason since we've known about it for awhile. Our loss, until today.
We ordered chana masala for my vegetarian wife and butter chicken for me, rice, regular naan bread and a samosa, all to be picked up at a set time. The food was ready when I arrived, but was still piping hot. The portion sizes are excellent...the amount of chicken in the butter chicken was literally double the amount we were recently given by the other (and recently slipping) Indian resto in town. The naan bread and rice portions generous as well.
We were both impressed with the taste of everything. Classic recipes done classically, and both main dishes were far superior to what the other place in town has recently been serving. The samosa was good though not quite as good as the other place in town.
The decor is minimal, as this is a takeout-only place. So basically irrelevant for the purpose of this review. The person who greeted us was perfunctory and had us paid and out of there with our food quickly, which is what we want in a takeout resto. I'm not looking for a new best friend; I simply wanted my food quickly, and they delivered.
One small piece of ordering advice: Their spicing is a tad heavy so everything was one step spicier than typical. Mild was closer to medium, medium was closer to spicy. Next time we will just ask them to take the spice level down a notch to get the...
Read moreAs Brits we love our curries and despite traveling across Canada we have never found a curry to come close to a UK curry - until we tried Tandoori Smoke. The online ordering process was simple and we received a confirmation email followed by a further one saying the food would be ready in 30 minutes. We thought we would get a selection of dishes to try so we ordered a starter, 3 mains, sides and a dessert. They all had great flavour and just the right amount of spice for our palate and we couldn’t find a fault with any of the food. The Chicken Tikka Masala is not the same as you would have in the UK which tends to be sweeter in flavour but it was still perfectly spiced. The garlic naan is possibly the most garlicky naan we’ve ever had (in a good way) but it was perfectly soft and fluffy. The portion sizes are, by UK standards, large and have so far fed us 3 times with the rest frozen for a 4th meal. We would definitely recommend you...

My husband and I were craving a really good Indian meal. Given that we have travelled quite extensively, we were looking for an authentic meal that captures Indian cuisine and although others have come somewhat close, the Tandoor Smoke nails it.
The Chef makes his own garam masala and each dish is authentic and true to Indian and Desi cuisine. This is a no-frills, no white linen tablecloth restaurant but it’s food is truly magnificent. The Chef introduced himself at our table (we have dined there and had several take outs) and his love of cooking is handled down through generations.
It’s so good our friends are coming from Mississauga to eat there next weekend! It’s truly a hidden gem, tucked away in a quiet street, making phenomenal food! Highly, highly recommend the biryanis, butter chicken, Pershwari naans, and their mango...
