Tried this place for the first time yesterday, as it looked like it had good reviews. Ordered the Royal Kebab, and the food looked good and tasted good, albeit it was a little on the pricier side at $30 for 2 skewers on rice.
The regret and 1-star rating justification came that evening and throughout the next day, when all of us got terrible gastroenteritis from the food. Between 2 adults and a 2 year old, we've had a collective 10+ washroom trips in less than 24 hours, and are still ongoing in the count.
We're certain it's the food from this place, as it's the only food that all 3 of us shared yesterday. Everything else we had, only 1 or 2 of us ate, but not all 3.
Another telltale sign was that our little one took less than two bites of the kebab meats then refused to eat anymore, even though she usually loves kebab meats and can devour half a skewer or more. We've known her to be able to recognize when food has gone bad with great accuracy, as she'll refuse it even if it's something she usually loves to eat (evolutionary adaptive I guess?). She's been right 4+ times in the past with takeout foods, where only the adults suffered after she refused to eat anything more than a bite. We didn't consider this yesterday as we thought she was just full or wanted to go play as we were outside at the time, but we should've figured it out yesterday if we had stopped to think about it.
One of us adults consumed 50% of the dish, and is suffering the worst of it. Even with just 1.5 bites, our child is on BM#3, despite usually being a once a day child.
Long story short, never again for us, and you can make your own choice of...
Read moreOur visit to this restaurant was influenced by a friend’s glowing recommendation, and it did not disappoint. The establishment impressed us right from the start with its spotless cleanliness and inviting ambiance. The staff were incredibly warm and hospitable, making us feel right at home.
Upon the waiter’s knowledgeable suggestions, we opted for a variety of dishes, including Vaziri, Tahdig, Dough, and Akbar Joojeh. The Tahdig immediately stood out with its delightful combination of flavors and an irresistible, crispy texture. However, the Dough drink left a slightly salty and overly herb-infused impression, somewhat masking the original yogurt taste.
The true star of the evening was the Vaziri, particularly the Koobideh kebab. It was a culinary masterpiece, offering a burst of mouthwatering flavors and an incredibly tender texture. I enthusiastically recommend trying the Koobideh kebab during your visit.
On the flip side, the Akbar Joojeh was a bit of a letdown. Despite its appealing presentation, it proved to be overly dry and lacked the distinctive essence of an Akbar Joojeh. It resembled more of a simple fried chicken dish with rice and a sweet pomegranate sauce, falling short of our expectations.
In conclusion, this restaurant shines in terms of service and hospitality, creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience. The Koobideh Kebab, especially the Koobideh itself, is an absolute must-try. However, I would advise against ordering the Akbar Joojeh if you’re seeking an authentic experience...
Read moreWhen my parents came home one day and told me about the Persian food they had at Pasargad, I figured that I had to give it a try. At first glance, the restaurant looked spacious and clean. When the server came to take our order, I asked for a recommendation for appetizers. They recommended the eggplant dip (Kashk-O-Bademjoon) in which I ordered along with the lamb shank (Baghali Polo Ba Mahicheh) and grilled rack of lamb (Shishilik Shandiz). However, the eggplant dip was bland and lacked seasoning. The yogurt dip was supposed to contain sauteed onions, garlic, fresh mint, and mashed eggplant, but the only thing I was able to taste was the eggplant smothered in regular yogurt. The pita bread along with it was also not fresh and stale. It looked like it was store bought. That aside, the mains that followed after the appetizer were quite nice. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful while the grilled rack of lamb was seasoned generously and cooked to perfection.. My only concern was that the portion of rice given exceeded the amount of protein and sauce, and as a result, I was eating white and saffron rice by itself by the end of the meal. I believe customers often enjoy their meal more when they can savor every bite of their meal, even though the portions may be smaller. All in all, Pasargad specializes in its marination and meats and I would certainly go back for more, especially if I have a...
