I recently had the pleasure of dining at Coquitlam Grill, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The restaurant was bustling with activity, yet it maintained a comfortable and inviting ambiance.
We were promptly seated, and our server was attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations from the menu. The variety of dishes available was impressive, offering something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
One of the standout features of our dining experience was the generous portion sizes. Each dish was not only beautifully presented but also substantial, ensuring that no one left the table hungry. We started with an appetizer of crispy calamari, which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a tangy dipping sauce that added just the right amount of zest.
For the main course, I opted for the Coquitlam Grill's famous steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender, and juicy, with a rich, savory flavor that was enhanced by the accompanying grilled vegetables and perfectly seasoned potatoes. My dining companion chose the classic fish and chips, which featured a generous portion of golden, crispy fish paired with thick-cut fries and a side of creamy coleslaw. The fish was flaky and moist, encased in a crunchy batter that was simply irresistible.
We also couldn't resist trying the hearty chicken alfredo pasta. The pasta was cooked al dente and smothered in a rich, creamy alfredo sauce that was bursting with flavor. The grilled chicken pieces were tender and seasoned to perfection, making each bite a delight.
To finish off our meal, we indulged in a decadent slice of cheesecake. The dessert was a perfect balance of creamy and sweet, with a buttery graham cracker crust that provided a delightful contrast in texture.
Throughout our meal, the service was impeccable. Our server checked in on us regularly, ensuring our drinks were always filled and that we had everything we needed. Despite the restaurant being busy, we never felt rushed, and we appreciated the relaxed pace that allowed us to truly savor our meal.
In summary, our dining experience at Coquitlam Grill was exceptional. The large portions and delicious food, combined with the warm and attentive service, made for a memorable outing. It's clear that Coquitlam Grill takes pride in providing a welcoming environment and high-quality dining experience. We left with full bellies and happy hearts, already planning our next visit to...
Read moreI visited Coquitlam Grill yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner with my best friend who I hadn't seen in 5 months. We went to our meal with her 18-month old twins in tow. The food was decent: I ordered the fish and chips with a side Caesar salad and the peach iced tea. The breaded fish was crispy but very oily inside, the tartar sauce was fine, fries were okay, coleslaw was awful, and the side Caesar was fine. I thought that the peach iced tea was very bizarre and I would not recommend it; instead of being simply a peach flavored iced tea, this was regular iced tea with a gritty peach puree at the bottom of the glass. It had an odd texture that was unexpected and unpleasant.
Our actual server was lovely, but some of the other staff were less helpful. For example, when a bus boy brought our drinks, my friend asked for some small plastic cups for her girls. A little while later, he returned with a single plastic cup. Why he would only bring one cup for two toddlers was confusing, and we had to ask three staff members before finally receiving a second small cup for the other girl.
Additionally, there was a woman who continually came by to offer coffee and water. She was clearly very enamoured with my friend's twins, and came by our table no fewer than six times -- often not even addressing my friend or I -- simply to coo at the toddlers. What was initially sweet quickly became intrusive and unwelcome, as my friend and I had not spent quality time together in so long and really did not appreciate this employee's barrage of interruptions to our visit. This situation was especially bizarre since after about the third visit she had left a jug of water at our table, but then continued to come by several more times.
I will not personally return to Coquitlam Grill. That said, they are definitely family-friendly. They were able to provide two high chairs for the toddlers. It just seemed that some staff members were a bit lacking in...
Read moreI've been here about half a dozen times and the service is always a bit of a hit and miss. Most recently I came with my family on a Thursday night for dinner. We were seated in the upper dining area but there was only 1 server for the entire area. I think I counted 9 active tables and most of them had between 4+ people within each group. 1 table had something like 10 people.
Let me just say that the service was painfully slow... I mean just horrendous and the worst part is that the server had absolutely no sense of urgency. I honestly don't think she even realized how slow she was. I could see other tables getting antsy as well. I think one guy made a comment to her and she just turned around and walked away mid-sentence.
It took 20 minute to take our order, another 25 minutes or so to get our food. Our drinks sat empty without any refills at all for the night. It was impossible to hail anyone down because unless it was the 1 server coming up to our area, no one else did. When she finally brought over the bill, we asked right away for the debit machine and she said she'd bring it over. Waited another 10 minutes before giving up and walking down to the cash register to pay. She then happened to be standing at the register and didn't even realize it was us standing there to pay despite looking at her straight in the eyes.
There's LOTS of places around the area with the same type of food so I'd definitely recommend going elsewhere. Save...
