I went for lunch here with family a few weeks ago. It was during the time on the weekend where they give you one of those cards to select what you want. Had I known this I would have looked in advance since ordering this way can be a bit overwhelming for me (usually just used to ordering a Combo A or B and the like and am not super familiar with specific types of sushi). I did get a regular combo (chicken and almond guy ding with rice). The server was nice (especially when trying to explain the special ordering menu to my relative and then agreeing to bring him something that was like "seafood and rice"). It did take what seemed like a bit of time to get our food however it was during peak serving hours on a weekend so I would not call the wait excessive. The quality of my food seemed a little above what you would normally get when ordering a standard combo form a Chinese restaurant. It was nice and hot as well. food was They brought my family member a rice pudding dish with sea food which they were not happy about. It took a while to get the servers attention and then they sent someone else over to deal with my relative. They were then given what looked like just some rice with sea food items mixed in. My relative was not happy when they tried to charge them for the first dish they bought them (but to be fair they were not very clear on what they wanted and think the server did their best to meet what they were asking). So, my relative complained until they took it off the bill (at this point they were in such a mood they barley ate any of the 2nd dish they were brought). So a kudos to the staff for dealing calmly with someone who was acting a bit privileged. There is a big paring lot out front and the lay out of the establishment does seem to be designed so that it could accommodate those with mobility need. Also, well lit but the decoder also leaves a bit to be desired. Probably won’t be going back here anytime soon but it was more about my company then the actual quality and service in the...
Read moreI’ve gone back and forth the past few days about whether I should write this review, but I believe the issue needs to be addressed.
A frustrating experience that could’ve been so much better. We made a reservation for 10 people at 6:30pm and even called earlier in the day to request some dim sum items be set aside for the evening. The woman on the phone that morning was warm and helpful, which really raised our expectations.
When we arrived, we were welcomed by a male server who was kind. Unfortunately, his female coworkers—and especially the shift supervisor—were shockingly hostile.
We ordered the Peking duck and politely asked if we could change the final two courses. Instead of the usual options, we requested duck meat stir-fried with egg noodles, and duck bones deep-fried instead of made into soup. We clearly stated we were happy to pay any extra charges for the substitution. The male server was accommodating and cheerful about it. But then the supervisor overheard and came to the table with a scowl, interrupting rudely and demanding, “What do you mean egg noodles stir-fry?” I calmly explained, only to be shut down with a sharp “We don’t have egg noodles.”
That response felt dishonest and unnecessarily rude. A Chinese restaurant without egg noodles? It just didn’t add up and the way it was handled was completely unprofessional. We weren’t being demanding, just politely asking with full willingness to pay more.
The food was undeniably delicious, and the male server deserves credit for staying calm and kind throughout. But the toxic attitude from the female staff, who I believe to be supervisor, turned what should’ve been a lovely group dinner into an uncomfortable and disappointing night. The service needs serious improvement if they want...
Read moreFour of us went to Fan's today for DimSum. We were out to celebrate Father's Day, and since our wives our Chinese, we thought this would be the perfect place. Well, it was a disaster! First, although we acknowledge it was busy due to Father's Day, we waited for an hour before our first DimSum was brought to the table after ordering. Although the dishes ordered were hot dishes, they arrived like they were taken out of a fridge and given to us immediately. Over the next hour, we waited for the remaining dishes to be served, but none came. Finally, we managed to "catch" a waitress, who admitted they forgot about them, and would we like to order them again. Seeing that another hour was too long, we politely said no. Then came the kicker! THEIR server who was carrying a huge jug of milk stumbled and the entire jug of milk spilled on our table. Everything was soaked in milk, including all our clothes, our food and my hair. It looked like we had peed ourselves, and our shirts were drenched with milk. Not only was no one informed, no one offered any sort of apology or discount. When I spoke with manager upon leaving, only after considerable debate and haggle did she "agree" to give us a 10% discount, even going so far as to saying "it's only milk". WOW! Any decent restaurant would have given that meal for free, acknowledging that the disaster was their fault. But it wasn't the money that mattered, it was the unprofessional, demeaning and thoroughly disgusting way they treat people. We will never go...
