We were so disappointed with both the service and the food today. My husband and I are long time Swiss Chalet fans- he used to work there before we got together and it’s his comfort food so we typically go to a Swiss chalet once a month on average. We used to really like this location, but over the past 5 years it’s has gone down hill- the only reason we were still going there was because they use a different wing sauce then most locations- it’s the same mild sauce as Montanas, which I personally love.
Anyways, after today we are done with this location. When we arrived there was only one server on, she wasn’t rude, but certainly wasn’t pleasant. No smile, no hey how are you, nothing. She half apologized for the wait but it was insincere at the least. Just to take our drink order was 15 minutes. We ordered food at the same time. It took 20 minutes to get our appy- we ordered the loaded perogies- they were kinda soggy, the cheese was under the perogies and not quite melted. No side plates and we asked for them the waitress said they were out…. The restaurant was almost empty. Fine… whatever. Typically they take about 10 minutes. We then waited another 20 minutes for our food, I ordered the wings meal with a Caesar salad, extra sauce. When it arrived the wings and the top half of the salad were both luke warm. There was no extra sauce. My husband ordered ribs and chicken, the ribs were not very good- not what they used to be at all. Waitress never came back to check on us until we were pretty much ready to go- thankfully another waitress who was just starting her shift did, and got the sauce I ordered. That waitress also brought the bill, and I will give that waitress props because she took over as we were leaving and handled the...
Read moreThe food was good but as always this location is super slow! When you arrive with a todler and a 6 year old you hope things go smoothly, always the opposite at this location. We've had crappy service on multiple occasions but return hoping the next time will be better. Always a disappointment! Waited 40 mins before we got our meals, by this time the kids are getting restless the 6 year old voicing her opinion as to why others around us received their meals when we were there before them. Did I mention we placed our order as soon as we were seated. Also we had two coupons for a free appetizer, one through email and the other by text but were told they couldn't accept them because they are the only location that their system hasn't be updated and won't accept the codes. I say figure it out! Do whatever you need to do to comp the items but don't tell me I can't use them because your system isn't set up for them! My six year old had approached the server after she ate her meal and was waiting patiently for her to return to ask about which desert we would like as they were included with our meals. Normally I would not allow but I was getting annoyed with all this waiting, oh by the way the restaurant wasn't busy, hard to believe since it was Valentine's Day. Eventually I went and found the server and told her we wanted to take our deserts to go as the baby was super fussyat this point and I was just upset that it was taking so long for everything! I left and took the kids out to the car while by husband waited for our deserts and paid. Needless to say we will not be returning to the Main Street location! Always a disappointment! So...
Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of dining at Swiss Chalet located at 100 Main St, Dartmouth, NS, and I must say it was the worst and most unpleasant dining experience of my life. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
I visited the restaurant on a Thursday afternoon at around 3:30, and to my surprise, the place was nearly empty, with only three customers, including my party of two. This low customer turnout should have raised some red flags, but it didn't take long to figure out why. The restaurant was infested with mice, and I mean everywhere. There were mouse traps scattered throughout the dining area, including under the table where I was seated.
The situation escalated when another customer reported a mouse running across her feet. To my horror, I soon noticed multiple mice scurrying around the restaurant. This was a truly unbelievable and disturbing experience. I feel sympathy for the staff who have to work in such conditions.
The server did apologize but failed to offer any form of compensation for this traumatic experience. The food itself was also a letdown, but it's hard to judge fairly under these circumstances. I couldn't bring myself to eat with mice running around my feet.
In summary, my visit to Swiss Chalet in Dartmouth, NS, was nothing short of a nightmare. The severe cleanliness and pest issue, coupled with subpar service and food, left me deeply disappointed. I would strongly advise potential diners to stay far away from this establishment until they address these critical issues. Your dining experience should never include unwanted guests scurrying...
