New Panda Buffet — Restaurant in Dartmouth

We were craving Chinese, after searching for places in the area (not from Halifax, we’re just visiting) we found this place. Read the reviews, they were pretty mixed but thought we’d give it a shot cause it’s just Chinese food right?

Absolutely not, the food was below mediocre, looked and tasted like leftovers from the night before. Placements of food are not pleasing to the eye, barely any choices, and labels were dirty scraps of paper taped on from 20 years ago. Tasted disgusting.

As you can see by my reviews, I rarely do this but my girlfriend and I felt immediately sick to our stomachs when we got in the car, and more so while I’m laying in bed typing this out. I feel bad for leaving this review because the waitress was super nice, and she did her job well and this is by no means a review of the staff. The food, and atmosphere was not pleasant. I would honestly just stay away, not to mention that there were two guys who kept going in and out of the restaurant to smoke their bong on the curb while laying down and showing his “behind” in our window.. appetizing!! :) then coming back in WITH THE BONG to sit back at there table and go for seconds and thirds. Staff were watching them and were aware, but didn’t do or say anything. But god forbid you have “loud children” as per their signs haha.. Police showed up, but never came in to confront them.. lol.

Very strange experience and will not be returning. Great job to the server, and hope you may find a better place...

I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about returning to The Panda Buffet but after seeing it had a new owner, new management and new menu, I thought I would give it chance and overall I would rate a 4.5 but will give it a 5 as the service was good, and the manager did come around to everyone's table to make sure everything was okay. In addition, everyone was asked to sanitize their hands upon entry and had sanitizer at every table.

We went there well after supper hour/late evening so I need to be fair when reviewing. I did not take pictures of the food as I did not think it would be a fair reflection of what the restaurant has to offer due to being late in the evening.

Even though it was late they were still bring out fresh food which was nice to see. I also like the fact that they promote only taking as much food as you can eat to reduce waste which is highlighted on a seperate sheet they give to you with the menu.

Having been a former regular patron the the old Panda Buffet I can attest that it has improved from the previous owner. There are some things there from the previous menu but a lot of the dishes have been changed. Quite honestly I stopped going to the old Panda Buffet because the dishes were always the same, so I hope to see new dishes in the future. Went for the buffet, probably the worst I have had. The worst thing I did is leave and not complain.

The food was horrible! Not fresh at all, dried out, tasted bland and the beef/ brocolli was mushy and the chicken balls were so dried out, just on the verge of being hard.

They did bring in some" fresh" but mixed it all in with the old dried up stuff. Wasn't appealing at all.

Place is really run down, floor was "sticky" and the furniture is falling apart. We were originally put in a booth, but it was so uncomfortable that we moved to a table, which was not any better. The table was very unstable. I had a look around and noticed all tables had dirty pieces of cardboard or somesort of paper under the legs trying to stabilize them. I had to eat with my foot on the leg of table to try to stabilize it.

For 3 of us, it cost a total of 90.00 plus tip.

Overall a very disappointing, uncomfortable experience that should not happen.!!!

When you pay over 100$ to go out to have a meal for 3 people, I EXPECT the place to be clean, I EXPECT the food to be excellent, and I EXPECT the staff should be friendly, NOT standing there staring while your trying to eat!
