The first time we went here it was so good. My husband had the garlic chicken and i had the mixed mezza appetizer plate. It was delicious. We spoke to the cook and we told them how good we thought the food was. A couple of weeks later we took my friend and brother in law there for supper. My husband ordered the shrimp dish, the shrimp was inedible, he sent it back but what came out was just a tad better. It tasted frozen and tough. They were amazing though and did not charge him for the meal. My salad was just ok, my friend ordered lamb and she said it was overcooked and not very flavorful. My brother in law ordered some chicken dish (skewers I think). It had a dried up burnt mushroom and not much else, he ordered it because it came with grilled vegetables. I was so embarrassed after raving about this place. Its not cheap and I wouldn't expext it to be, for quality food. I dont even know what to say, I was so disappointed. The service is good, the chef is extremely friendly, maybe it was a bad night. But i work hard for my money and I am not willing to spend $80 or more for mediocre food. The online menu should be updated also as the prices are not the same as the restaurant menu. Good luck to you, beautiful place, nice people but My second time was so disappointing I just...
Read moreTried here impulsively last night (a rainy Saturday in January about 7pm). If you don't know the area of Dartmouth, it could be easy to miss because it's in the rear of a building that has Finbar's in front, and not visible from Portland St. Anyway, there is free parking in the rear, so you can walk right in, without having to deal with that. The place is cosy, with tables for two and four running along a narrow section by the front window, then makes an L turn with another narrow section of tables around the corner. Seating maybe for 30-40 I would guess total? Simple but nice decor, a few Mediterranean touches. Very friendly and attentive service! Great prices. My friend and I weren't hungry enough to get full meals, but he got an order of hummus (7.50 for a good sized serving), 1.50 for extra pita. I tried the Mixed Mezza plate ($14) that included your basic dips, a falafel, couple of grape leaf things that I can never remember the name. Lol Overall, all very tasty. Not a long wait at all. We definitely...
Read moreWe have been back to this restaurant on several occasions. It's become our go-to restaurant for introducing folks who live elsewhere to what Dartmouth has to offer. The food is always excellent and the waitstaff couldn't be friendlier.
Original review: Lovely Mediterranean restaurant with exceptionally beautiful tablecloths and a nice ambiance. We ordered the beet salad (beets, walnuts, goat cheese, maple vinaigrette) and the mixed meze plate which included hummus, dolma, mutabbel, falafel, and eggplant saute. For dessert we had the baklava and liked it so much we also got an order to go. The baklava at the table was served with a delicious raspberry sauce.
Everything was very tasty and plated in an attractive way. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The view from the restaurant is the only detraction since it looks out onto a parking lot (nice trees, otherwise unexceptional) but they do their best to make the inside beautiful and cozy. We will...
