Tried Xaymaca impulsively yesterday afternoon around 3:30. Parking lot has spaces for seven or eight cars I'd guess. No one was in sight when I walked in, but within a few seconds, a head popped out of the back to say hello. I wasn't sure if they have physical menus, but there was one on the wall. I just took a glance and randomly blurted out that I'd try the combo that lets you choose two types of chicken. Ordered half jerk chicken & half curry chicken, knowing nothing about what to expect. The staff said I could sit wherever, so I grabbed a booth/table that seats 4 or 5. There are some window seats & a few other that circle a small fish tank, but each have high seats that I find uncomfortable. Casual, almost 'hole in the wall' atmosphere, but not meant in any negative way. Just basic. Some Caribbean music playing. My full time there, two others came in for take-out, who seemed to be known customers or friends. Food arrived within five minutes. See photo for what came on the platter. I suppose some kind of warm cole slaw, which was delicious, a very tasty rice & beans in the middle, and stewed veg on the side, also good. The meat fell off the bone and was just an awesome mix of flavors. None of it was remotely spicy to me, but didn't need to be. Obviously a decent sized meal that was $21 + tax and totally worth it. I'll go back to sample some more authentic dishes that I've...
Read moreTook my mom and sister here for an early Mother’s Day lunch. I had originally found out about this place on Skip the Dishes a couple of weekends before. I had an order of Jerk Chicken and Oxtails and absolutely LOVED the food.
This time, I wanted to get the restaurant experience. It is on the smaller side, but still a good amount of seating available.
The cook/owner (I’m assuming he is the owner as well) was not very enthusiastic or social when waiting on us, but he was friendly.
What we ordered:
•Jerk Chicken and Oxtail combo. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •BBQ Chicken and Oxtail combo. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Jerk Chicken combo. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(All combos came with rice & peas and steamed vegetables.)
It was all so delicious!! Everything was so flavourful and I’m still thinking about those oxtails. 😍 We also got an order of 5 Beef Patties to take home and they were so tasty!
We were all beyond satisfied with our meals and will definitely be going...

We shared a few laughs with Ryan last night before digging into our meal. He’s so friendly and welcoming, he made us feel like family!
The food is fantastic and we did NOT leave hungry. Their portions are large and yes…they have bottles of Red Stripe.
They’ve got Island food, an ice cream stand in the summer, and possibly a beer garden in the future?! We’ve been looking forward to their opening, and we’re happy to have a new neighbour in the area. PS - we’ll be back to try the Caribbean Boil!
Edit: we went back for the Boil. It was amazing. You’ve...
