I have to say... something new was discovered yesterday!!! (I'm not sure if they've hired a new chef or if they have the same one, and they just had the time to get our food out with such wonderful flavour and presentation today! Admittedly we were basically the first people there today, rather than the usual 400th lol)
My sister and I met up at MicMac Bar and Grill to eat today.... as soon as they opened.... we originally planned on having something breakfast... but upon hearing the specials, we went with the sale on steak that came with a loaded baked potato (for only $2.50 and a Greek side salad for only $2.00) this we felt was a great price and we had an 8oz steak loaded with crispy onions as the deal... now... here's where we were Sooooo extremely happy.... the presentation on EVERYTHING that came out of that kitchen was beyond amazing!!! Our salad was so perfect and so unbelievably plated... we looked at each other and we were shocked!!! It was loaded with cheese and veggies in a way we can only describe as perfection!! The cucumbers were sliced on the side of the dish in a fancy pattern, and we had diced tomatoes on the salad as well - rather than 2 huge ugly chunks like we had before!!! That's right, diced tomatoes!! We found out that they even served them diced by our amazing waitress, Stef!!! Not a single time before has any other person ever told us we could get them diced!!! This in itself was spectacular!
Now... when I tell you, our streaks came out exceptionally cooked to the utmost care! If I could put my fingers up and kiss them to look as though I may be Italian, that's exactly what I want you to see! Lol, they were so tender and so juicy, and literally couldn't be any better if you tried to replicate them!
The loaded potatoes were great too, with lots of cheese and bacon, and they were put into the oven and grilled to melted perfection! Yum! Very tasty!!
We also loved having the crispy onions added to our steak... that and our mushrooms we ordered ($3) sent everything up over the edge of what we could have hoped.
To keep saying perfect - just isn't cutting it... the entire combination of flavours that danced on our tongues was unreal!
I have to say... the biggest thank you to the chef and staff who made our lunch so great, and again... Stef, our waitress who was the best host ever!! Yum yum yum!!
It's time like this - I feel that MicMac went back to the old MicMac, and they really exceeded our...
Read moreWe have been trying to get into the MicMac Bar and Grill now for sometime but every time we are in the area and try they are always packed or it is spur of the moment and we don't have a reservation.
Today we happened to be in the area again and thought we would try. We managed to get the last parking spot in the parking lot.
Since this was the first time we went there as a family we thought we would try a few different appetizers. We ordered deep fried pickles spears, Deep fried Calamari, and garlic bread. The dill pickle spears were crisp and delicious. The batter on the Calamari was one of the best I have ever tried (a must order). The garlic bread was honestly not what I expected. The menu said baguette which is why I ordered it but it was thick toast with lots of garlic flavour and a lot of real melted cheese which was okay but it could have been better if it were a baguette.
For our main courses I ordered a mushroom and Swiss cheese 1/2 lb burger with spicy fries which was a little in the messy side but delicious. My wife ordered the spicy black bean burger with sweet chili mayo which she really enjoyed. The only thing that could have been better is if it had more sweet chili sauce on it. My daughter ordered a once piece fish and chips off the kids menu and the portions was larger than we expected. My daughter really loved the fish but did not care for the fries as they were a little soggy from the fish laying in top the fries. Some food for thought would be to serve it on a plate instead with the fish on the side. My daughter did enjoy my spicy fries though, which were more seasoned instead of spicy.
I would like to compliment the staff on their promptness, and organization as we went without nothing. I also noticed that the staff were wearing ear pieces and mics to communicate which I thought was a brilliant idea for efficiency.
Overall, based on this experience with the quality, portions and value combined with the service we received this was a solid 4.7/5 so I have rounded up to 5/5.
If you have not been to the MicMac Bar and Grill I highly recommend you give it a try if you like good quality and quantity of food for a reasonable price. Keep up the...
Read moreI have been to this establishment probably four times in the last 5 years. During busy times there can be a bit of a wait for a table but as there was only two of us today we got in quite quickly.
In previous visits I really enjoyed my meal which was usually one of their hamburger combos. Today I went for brunch with a family member. Even though the service was prompt I could tell my eggs had already started to cool by the time they got me. Also the toast had started to become a bit mushy as well. The hash browns were good however the bacon seemed dry and overcooked. The portion size was quite large but if the quality is not that great to begin with then this is not really a bonus. For those inclined they do sell alcohol at this restaurant.
Have to say I was a little surprised considering the high standard of food quality I have received here in the past. Finally am not sure if the prices have increased since my last visit but seemed more expensive than I remember.
Our server was very pleasant and friendly and checked in on us appropriately and though it appeared busy our order was taken quickly and we were served in a reasonable time frame.
The parking lot can be quite tricky to navigate and I do not remember seeing designated spots (e,g. for those with disabilities or for pregnant individuals). Walking paths within the restaurant are quite narrow so I can see having mobility issues make it hard to navigate.
I most likely will go back here again but I'm not sure if I will give the brunch menu another try.
Extra note: I forgot to mention due to past experiences I know this establishment is extremely accommodating when it comes to serving people who are on community outings from facilities/organizations supporting individuals with mental health and developmental concerns. Part of the support provided to these individuals involves accessing the community and engaging in "typical" activities within it such as dining out with dignity and respect. I know from first-hand direct experience as well was many secondary reports that this restaurant is always willing to accommodate any special needs that may arise in this regard. So big kudos to them for...
