I have to say... something new was discovered yesterday!!! (I'm not sure if they've hired a new chef or if they have the same one, and they just had the time to get our food out with such wonderful flavour and presentation today! Admittedly we were basically the first people there today, rather than the usual 400th lol) My sister and I met up at MicMac Bar and Grill to eat today.... as soon as they opened.... we originally planned on having something breakfast... but upon hearing the specials, we went with the sale on steak that came with a loaded baked potato (for only $2.50 and a Greek side salad for only $2.00) this we felt was a great price and we had an 8oz steak loaded with crispy onions as the deal... now... here's where we were Sooooo extremely happy.... the presentation on EVERYTHING that came out of that kitchen was beyond amazing!!! Our salad was so perfect and so unbelievably plated... we looked at each other and we were shocked!!! It was loaded with cheese and veggies in a way we can only describe as perfection!! The cucumbers were sliced on the side of the dish in a fancy pattern, and we had diced tomatoes on the salad as well - rather than 2 huge ugly chunks like we had before!!! That's right, diced tomatoes!! We found out that they even served them diced by our amazing waitress, Stef!!! Not a single time before has any other person ever told us we could get them diced!!! This in itself was spectacular! Now... when I tell you, our streaks came out exceptionally cooked to the utmost care! If I could put my fingers up and kiss them to look as though I may be Italian, that's exactly what I want you to see! Lol, they were so tender and so juicy, and literally couldn't be any better if you tried to replicate them! The loaded potatoes were great too, with lots of cheese and bacon, and they were put into the oven and grilled to melted perfection! Yum! Very tasty!! We also loved having the crispy onions added to our steak... that and our mushrooms we ordered ($3) sent everything up over the edge of what we could have hoped. To keep saying perfect - just isn't cutting it... the entire combination of flavours that danced on our tongues was unreal! I have to say... the biggest thank you to the chef and staff who made our lunch so great, and again... Stef, our waitress who was the best host ever!! Yum yum yum!! It's time like this - I feel that MicMac went back to the old MicMac, and they really exceeded our expectations! Bravo!

We have been trying to get into the MicMac Bar and Grill now for sometime but every time we are in the area and try they are always packed or it is spur of the moment and we don't have a reservation. Today we happened to be in the area again and thought we would try. We managed to get the last parking spot in the parking lot. Since this was the first time we went there as a family we thought we would try a few different appetizers. We ordered deep fried pickles spears, Deep fried Calamari, and garlic bread. The dill pickle spears were crisp and delicious. The batter on the Calamari was one of the best I have ever tried (a must order). The garlic bread was honestly not what I expected. The menu said baguette which is why I ordered it but it was thick toast with lots of garlic flavour and a lot of real melted cheese which was okay but it could have been better if it were a baguette. For our main courses I ordered a mushroom and Swiss cheese 1/2 lb burger with spicy fries which was a little in the messy side but delicious. My wife ordered the spicy black bean burger with sweet chili mayo which she really enjoyed. The only thing that could have been better is if it had more sweet chili sauce on it. My daughter ordered a once piece fish and chips off the kids menu and the portions was larger than we expected. My daughter really loved the fish but did not care for the fries as they were a little soggy from the fish laying in top the fries. Some food for thought would be to serve it on a plate instead with the fish on the side. My daughter did enjoy my spicy fries though, which were more seasoned instead of spicy. I would like to compliment the staff on their promptness, and organization as we went without nothing. I also noticed that the staff were wearing ear pieces and mics to communicate which I thought was a brilliant idea for efficiency. Overall, based on this experience with the quality, portions and value combined with the service we received this was a solid 4.7/5 so I have rounded up to 5/5. If you have not been to the MicMac Bar and Grill I highly recommend you give it a try if you like good quality and quantity of food for a reasonable price. Keep up the great work! 👍👍

Our recent visit to Mic Mac Bar and Grill was incredibly disappointing. Initially, we were served by a kind older gentleman, but he left after 10 minutes, passing us on to a waitress named Sara. We were a group of seven—three children and four adults. When one of the adults wanted to order a kids' meal (fish and chips) to share with a child, Sara refused, insisting it was against restaurant policy and that we must order an adult meal instead. Despite explaining our situation, she was unyielding, and we reluctantly complied. Throughout the meal, Sara made us pass the plates to her, which felt inappropriate as it was her job to clear the table, not ours. This was our third visit, and we had never faced such issues before. To make matters worse, after paying a hefty $350 CAD bill at the counter, Sara rushed over, accusing us of not paying and causing a scene despite our showing the paid receipt. It was clear she was upset about not receiving a tip. Overall, Sara's rude and unprofessional behavior ruined our experience. I won’t be returning to Mic Mac Bar and Grill, as the service was far below acceptable standards.

This was my first ever visit to the Mic Mac Tavern(As my family calls it). They had told me of its history and the good price to taste ratio they've always had. Even upon entering I could tell this was sort of a known place as it had a small lineup but everyone in the staff seemed nice and took us to our seats immediately as we had reservations. We ordered a Onion Rings, Beef Liver, Onions & Bacon, a Spicy Black Bean with Spicy Fries and 3 piece Fish & Chips. The Beef and Veggie/Black Bean Burger were great as per my family. I had the Fish & Chips. While I won't say it was the best in the city the fish was adequate. The fries however were a problem. Overly salty and too oily for my taste. It did put a damper on the things for me but everything else seemed to be more than good. They do seem to have a big menu and good amount of seating space. However, despite that they are mostly packed and I highly recommend making a reservation. The decor is beautiful and has a nice blend of modern with the old. I can certainly understand why a lot of people have their memories attached to it and now I have one too.

I wrote a wicked review a couple years back but a lot has changed. Edit: Went back, orderd lobster and asked to have my steak upgraded to a 12 oz, they did that no problem(also have done this in the past.) To my suprize they made me pay for a whole other meal and turned my lobster into a side. Dinner for 2 ended up being 181 before tip.(There was no tip after that) Instead of paying the $48 for a steak and lobster dinner. We tried to disput but they weren't hearing it... so i give a 0 for customer service. Secondly, as soon as we sat down. There were two racist women beside us talking about slavery and the deep south. How slaves were meant for the work and liked it. We told multiple servers and they did not do anything other than offer us a new place to sit after about 20 minutes of hearing this chatter.(as if they were scared to address the situation) Told us there was nothing they could do. Pretty much ruined our meal. We will deffinetly not be back, our whole experience was horrible.

As someone who absolutely loves Nachos - I have to say, the Nachos at Mic Mac Bar and Grill may just be at the top of my list for best nachos in Halifax! My family and I were thinking places to try for nachos and we were extremely happy we choice here to order Takeout! :::Nachos::: Well cooked with loads of toppings. Tortilla chips were seasoned perfectly in house which always adds extra flavor to any nacho dish. We added on the taco chicken - Highly recommend that decision! :::Deep Fried Pickles::: AMAZING!! Had with the Dill sauce, there were two choices - other was ranch. Perfect breading and seasoning. :::Sweet Potato Fries::: Again.. like everything they were amazing as well. Only down fall was there wasn't enough. It certainly was a small order for $8 or $9 I believe.. inflation I suppose. Take out was still a great choice and the food was still nice and hot by the time I got home.
