We had not been to the restaurant for a couple of years because of bad service and poor quality of food. So, what did I do, made a reservation for Mother's Day, what a mistake! We got there, they had not wiped the chairs and my mother in law sat in a pool of water in her chair. You can see where this is going. The server had no interest in being there, at all. We were seated in the shade on the patio and asked if we could move, no can do. Then put on the heater, which should have been done already!. We were told where the buffet line was and this is where the food went south fast. The eggs bennie were stuck to the pan and there was no fresh pan coming out. The roast beef looked like a ham,,no color. We took our first attempt at brunch back to the table and my wife could not cut through the english muffin on the eggs, so she put it aside and went to get fresh ones. Our server did not pick up the first plate and did not take the hint, when my wife brought a second plate with eggs bennie back. I am sure she could see we were not happy, but persevered in not coming over to find out if everything was fine or if there was a problem. At the end of this lunch, I asked for the bill, which she brought over handed over the monaris machine and without a word took it back, tore off my receipt, I am sure noting that there was not TIP, She did not ask anything further. The manager, I assume, a lady in her 50's came toward us when we were sitting there earlier and I thought was going to talk with us and ask about our experience, that did not happen, she went by and moved some chairs around. I can not tell you how disappointing this was and unfortunately a great venue, view are just being misused by the present...
Read moreI recently visited Riverhouse Restaurant and Pub in Delta, and the beautiful location was definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for renovations during my visit, but I still had a chance to enjoy lunch at the pub.
The Pub Experience The pub was lively, as expected, but the atmosphere was pleasant despite the noise. The view from the pub was stunning, making up for the lack of fine dining experience at the restaurant.
Food Review I ordered the club turkey with yam fries and Torta Tenerina for dessert. The club turkey was satisfying and filling, while the yam fries were fresh and flavorful. They had good wine options too. Wild Goose Gewürztraminer was fruity and sweet just like it was recommended. Was good. The Torta Tenerina dessert was rich and chocolatey, although I felt it could have benefited from a few more strawberries to balance out the heaviness of the chocolate.
One thing that caught me off guard was the extra charge for splitting the sandwich. While I understand that some restaurants may have policies like this, I wish they had informed me ahead of time. Being charged an extra $2 without prior notice felt a bit surprising. To avoid any confusion, it might be helpful to have a clear sign or for the server to mention this policy when ordering
Overall I enjoyed my visit to the pub and would recommend it for a casual meal with a beautiful view. The food was decent, and the atmosphere was lively, making for a pleasant dining experience. Will come again to try more dishes when the restaurant and...
Read moreI visited the River House for the first time last Friday evening for a dinner with work colleagues. The atmosphere was festive, the service competent and the food decent. On the strength of that experience I made reservations for a special extended family lunch today.
Boy, was I disappointed. We were the only customers in the place - 8 adults and 2 children--and it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. When it finally did come it looked and tasted like re-heated leftovers. The food was, frankly, disappointing --- worse than Ricky's, ABC, or White Spot on a bad night, but at twice the price.
This was especially disappointing as I had wanted a special venue and a memorable meal for our special family event and was willing to splurge a little, but the nice meal and service I was expecting never materialized. The fries were overdone, the halibut looked like it had been re-fried, the award winning clam chowder was old, thick and salty; not a single guest was pleased with their meal. What a disappointment!
To her credit our server tried hard to make this a pleasant experience, and we took the delays in stride expecting all to be well when the meal came. It seems she had no support from the kitchen. The pain was amplified by the automatic 18% gratuity due to the size of our party. In retrospect it seems the place just isn't staffed to handle afternoon customers. In that case they would be better off to close the dining room from between 1:00 and 6:00 pm, as they don't seem to have the resources to take...
