Ordered for pickup for a friend and myself not having seen inside the restaurant...
When I walked in go pickup 30min later I didn't even want to take my order. The "restaurant" is the old style wood walls and booths, which whatever, but it smelt like a musty old home... the checkout had allll kinds of random non-restaurant items were stacked everywhere behind the counter. It didn't feel clean... there were random boxes of things by the tables in the middle of the room, and a booth had boxes of random assorted items... I used the washroom and the ceiling had black and prior water damage spots all over. The walls were cracked and chipping... it was CLEAN but also in terrible condition. I'm sure the kitchen is a typical kitchen... but everything else was a complete turn off and gave an extremely poor impression.
Staff was polite, but I did end up waiting an extra 15min after getting my order waiting - I realized there were zero utensils or plates in our large order, and the lady peeked out and saw me waiting but "assumed I was just talking to the other lady" I'd had a conversation with while waiting 5min for my order initially.
We ordered lo-mein, sweet and sour pork, Sesame chicken, beef and broccoli... the sauces on the meats weren't very flavourful at all. They all were very mild... the lo mein was okay. The meat was very very dry, and we ate about 15min after leaving. I know I won't ever be ordering there again though, I'd honestly give 2 stars based on the food itself let alone the inside of...
Read moreNothing like Country Corner, or Pebbles Restaurant. If you have ever had good chineese food you would not darken there door. We went in for take out my husband only ears chicken balls and chicken rice. Fussy eater but this time he had good reason, the put the sweet and sour sauce on the chicken balls at the restaurant! The rice had no flavour or chicken in it. I like chicken chow mein and fried chicken wings. The cow main was void of everything except bean sprouts, and the chicken wings were completely whole, could not eat unless broken in 3 pces. Do not recommend chineese at youngs but we did not order canadian food. Oh yes we waited half an hou for them to make...
Read moreWe were coming back from a friend's cottage when we decided to stop in for lunch on the fly. To be honest, it was not the best atmosphere, very very dated, but charming. Take 20 years back, and you're on the right place. Which I kind of like.
Exactly what someone should expect from a small town Ontario Chinese restaurant. The server/owner was very friendly, and we discussed Chinese restaurants from across southwestern Ontario, and we enjoyed the food.
I'd happily stop for lunch again. It wasn't breathtaking, but it was real and friendly. If you want a nostalgia trip, this place is for you. I actually...
