This is Mount Alberts best kept secret.
The food, decor, ambience and customer service were all outstanding. You can feel that pride of ownership upon entering the restaurant. Then menu was kept simple which we love as we would rather have fewer selections done well than a four page menu to choice from which often doesn’t end well. Don’t get me wrong there are enough choices to still make it hard to decide what you want. The starter was fried cauliflower that was absolutely delicious, we all craved about it. Menu portions were more than enough to satisfy one’s appetite. I still can’t get over how attentive the service was throughout our dinner. My wife had fish and chips and the fish was the best I’ve had in a long time. My beef dip was awesome and my sons beef skewers were tender and tasty. Pricing is extremely reasonable for the high quality of food one receives.
The second floor of this old house has rooms for larger groups and a room that was extremely inviting as it had couches with a TV playing that video running the fireplace scene which gave the room a wow factor especially as it’s winter. The walls are adorned with pictures of old Mount Albert throughout which enhances the characteristic of this charming restaurant. We will definitely be back and recommend others to visit. The owner is extremely personable, his commitment to making your dining experience wonderful is commendable. This passion and commitment is instilled into his team as it definitely...
Read moreWe absolutely love coming to this small restaurant in Mount Albert because the people who work there are amazing and the food is always so good.
We drive across from Keswick because we enjoy the food, the people and the trip over so much.
They have a great menu with plenty of selection and the guys in the kitchen make amazing food. Honestly, it’s one restaurant where I feel like I am eating something I would make for myself and I leave feeling like it was nutritious and actually made with great real food and with care as I would make it for myself.
My favourite is the French onion soup and the fried chicken sandwich. The buns are basically homemade and always fresh with fresh vegetables. The Caesar salad is second to none with homemade dressing that tastes like none other definitely not just Renée’s. The Dougie burger is great as well. My wife always gets the chicken Caesar wrap and it is delicious because again it tastes just homemade and the breading that they use on their fried chicken is unbelievable.
Their french fries are unbelievable, and always the star side.
I also enjoyed the fish and chips, but as I am not a huge fish guy, it is a once in a while type thing, but can recommend.
Everyone working here is so kind and friendly. A small town establishment the way...
Read moreThis was our first time at the Lloyd House. To be honest the main reason we went was because someone recommended the thanksgiving poutine. Well, that and we didn't want to drive too far. I have to say it was probably one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had! The staff (especially Doug) were SO friendly.. they took the time to make sure we were comfortable, chatted with us, accommodated our requests and even took a takeout order after the kitchen closed. The food was delicious! I have to say that thanksgiving poutine was the best poutine I have ever had. BY FAR! The turkey was smokey and juicy, and the stuffing was really tasty. The toppings to fries ratio was really good and yet the fries were still crispy. Also had the fried pickles which were really good and a huge portion. I have to say I woke up this morning and wondered if I could have that for...
