Casselwood Pub — Restaurant in Edmonton

We stop in every once and awhile, Normally we have a great experience. Today, not so much. First server was fantastic, quick,attentive. Unfortunately she became bartender and we sort of got another server, after about 20 min waiting she stopped at our table to inform us that she was taking over. Took drink orders but did not bring drinks. A different server brought our food to the table (ordered from first server) . After about 40min of no service,no drinks we eventually went up to the bar to ask for a takeout box for our food and to just get the bill. Surprise! Our server made an appearance at our table with the bill, chatty,asking how we were doing. Like hmmm,, thirsty?. Obviously an expectation of a tip. As for food, tex mex wings were awesome. Pizza was overcooked, dry. Had 1 drink each in the 90min we were there...place was less then half full with a few servers. Servers seem to lack experience/supervision. This pub may seem just like any neighbourhood pub, however the front facade is a little deceiving. Once you walk through the doors it is actually quite large inside, certainly capable of accommodating a large crowd. The games room, dance floor, and dining area are all separated into easy to distinguish zones, yet it does give the feel that you are still in the same common area. I went on a Saturday and they had a that was playing an eclectic mix ranging between techno, 90's, Latin, and yes, even ABBA. While the bar does not have a broader range of liquors as you might find in the downtown core, for a northside bar the range is definitely better than most. I'm a rum drinker, enjoy the demerara variety, and they had mainstream but Appletons and Havana Club anejo (the bar rum of course is Lambs). When it comes to management and the woman at the bar...service was great. Unfortunately their waitress was terrible on every level. I had to go to the bar for service where I was very well taken care of. The food here was nothing short from awesome. Their pizza crust is perfect and their wings were cooked very well and seasoned just the way we like it. The pool tables were freshly clothed and their were a few tables to choose from. Even on Wednesday when we play league there. The vlt machines seemed to be pretty fair and there were a few to choose from. Only bad thing about this place is that I don't live closer and I won't be able to visit as often as I'd like to. I will visit again and I highly recommend this place. Thank Casselwood. ...
