I wanted to bring attention to a disheartening situation within a local restaurant. The management of this establishment is allegedly involved in exploiting immigrant workers, as evidenced by the experience of one of my family members. Initially promised a positive work environment, within a week, he found himself subjected to grueling conditions—working 12 to 14 hours every day without breaks, even on consecutive days without a holiday. When he requested a day off, he faced insults and threats.
This mistreatment extends beyond my family member, as I've learned from other workers about consistent bullying and harassment from the management. Coercion appears to be prevalent, creating a toxic workplace atmosphere. Moreover, there are reports of delayed payments for most employees, raising concerns about potential tax fraud.
I recognize that immigrants may not always be aware of their rights and could be vulnerable to such exploitation. While we may not have the ability to rectify these issues directly, I feel compelled to make this information public. If there are others facing similar challenges within this establishment or any managed by the same individuals, I urge you to stand up for yourselves and others.
I want to reassure everyone that my family member is now in a safe situation and worked briefly as a cook in this environment. Despite customer loyalty, it's crucial to shed light on the distressing conditions behind the counter. There are likely numerous workplace laws being violated, including coercion, bullying, harassment, improper working conditions, untimely payments, and potentially illegal overtime practices. I encourage those affected to take the necessary steps to address...
Read moreFirst time I ordered the vegetable samosas, butter chicken, lamb curry, chicken noodles dish, paneer dish , got 5 loads of naan bread and he gave us rice on the house , hooked us up. Honestly 10/10 on all their dishes, samosas come with a green spicy sauce and sqeet cutney sauce which are very compatible and compliments each other. I tried like 5 different butter chicken in the city but this definitely takes the cake, chicken is super moist and the sauce was perfect. Lamb curry was tender and juicy , paneer first time having it was delicious tbh not exactly sure what it is when I ordered it, just to try. I ordered all the dishes medium spicy, I was definitely sweating as I was eating it but it was worth it, I suggest mild if you prefer less heat. But I'm less tolerant of spicy foods on general . Drove all the way from the Northside to check it out as MANY co workers I work with suggested me this place to eat. Worth the drive in the snow!! Thanks sufyan for...
Read moreFirst time ordering, as I am not in Millwood's often. Did a Google search for samosas, and decided to try them out. Ordered 1 of each ; chicken, beef, paneer and vegetable. Delicious! I think the paneer is my favourite, filled with spiced, chopped paneer, and green peas. The pastry crust, super tender and flakey, not tough at all like samosa crust can sometimes be. You get 2 chutneys with the samosas; mint, and sweet. One of the best mint chutneys I've ever tried! I'd pick up a large tub of that on it's own to eat with everything! As a bonus, they threw in a box of some sort of ball shaped sweet, that Google tells me is called Laddu, and I've never tried before. Also delicious! I will go back for sure anytime I'm...
