Oh my goodness, my experience at the food pick-up counter was absolutely awful.
First of all, the lady serving food was shockingly unprofessional. She had her hair down, touching it repeatedly, and then immediately handling people’s food plates with the same hands. I couldn’t believe she was doing something so inappropriate—and with such confidence.
Now, here’s the actual story.
I ordered three coffees and four desserts, which came to about $50 (with tip, around $60). I was given a black buzzer and waited patiently until it went off. When I returned to the counter, I handed her the buzzer, and she gave me three coffees. However, there was no indication of which one was regular or decaf, and she didn’t even provide a tray. That meant I had to awkwardly carry two cups in each hand.
Then I had to go back to pick up the desserts and I noticed my four desserts sitting right in front of the lady. Out of courtesy, I asked her politely, “These are mine too, right?” just to confirm I wasn’t accidentally taking someone else’s order. To my surprise, she rudely told me, “Oh no, you only ordered three coffees. I can’t give you these desserts.” She even went as far as to insist that I didn’t have proof and demanded that I go back and bring her another token.
At that point, I felt completely humiliated. I had already paid for the food, she had already taken my buzzer (which was my only proof of purchase), and yet she was refusing to give me what I ordered. How could I possibly prove it when she had taken the one piece of proof they provide? They don’t even give out receipts!
Frustrated, I told her, “So, you’re charging $50 for just three coffees?” Only then did she suddenly say, “Oh okay, you can take the food.” But even then, I asked her to show me proof that the desserts were indeed mine, since she had already taken my buzzer away.
If there was any confusion, she could have simply said, “Let me double-check.” Instead, she showed no professionalism at all. She immediately started arguing, insisting that I either provide proof or go back and bring another token—which was completely unacceptable.
This entire experience was horrible for me. This used to be one of my favorite places—I’ve been here countless times, and because I had family visiting, we even came three days in a row. Unfortunately, on the third day, I was treated like this.
No one wants to go to a place where you pay for food, only to be told by the staff that you have no proof of your own order. It was such a horrible experience, and it has completely changed the way I feel...
Read morePls read, a real honest Review of Mokha Cafe. 4.5/5!
Its new, but Nestled in the vibrant heart of Griesbach, directly across from Co-operators, Mokha Cafe is a delightful new addition to Edmonton’s cafe scene. This beautifully updated establishment boasts a unique blend of specialty coffees sourced from Yemen, along with enticing American and Italian influences.
Stepping inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere spread across two floors. The gorgeous wooden seating and lush perennial plants create a serene environment perfect for relaxation. The tables are thoughtfully designed, and the granite bar where the skilled baristas work adds a touch of elegance to the space. I particularly appreciated the complimentary water options, both cold and room temperature, which is a nice touch for those warm days.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their croissants, and I must say, the Almond and Pistachio variety stole the show for me. I also tried their Milk Cake, (its a little on the sweet side beware) which pairs wonderfully with the rich Spanish Latte—a match made in heaven!
The washrooms are impressively well-maintained, and I hope that continues as the cafe grows in popularity. Speaking of growth, my initial visit was a bit overwhelming due to the crowd, but after returning a few times, I've truly come to appreciate the charm of this place.
A special shoutout to Mo, the barista, whose talent and accommodating nature enhance the entire experience. I know there's mixed reviews but generally with my interactions with him, he's ok. His ability to create stunning latte art is just the cherry on top.
Sometimes customer service is subjective. Not everyone is a butler type, and dont have to please everyone. They're busy making coffee not just for yourself but for everyone too. So please keep that in mind as the store gets a lot of traffic.
Overall, Mokha Cafe has captured my heart with its prime location, exceptional service, and inviting aesthetics. I highly recommend this spot, especially for those looking to catch up with an old friend or simply enjoy a moment of tranquility with a cup of expertly...
Read moreI’ve been here multiple times since opening and I truly love the atmosphere and decor, it’s very well thought out and beautiful. The coffee, adani and cold drinks are usually good as well. The one thing lacking in this place is the service, the staff is extremely slow. Every time I come here alone or with other people to sit in we wait for our food/drinks for atleast 30 minutes if not more at times. Most of the staff are always chatting to each other and ignore you when you’re standing right there trying to order so they can finish their conversation. There’s been multiple times that our order had been wrong, or duplicated (I would get my coffee and 5 minutes later another staff member would come out trying to give me my coffee again). I’m always pretty patient because they’re newish and it’s usually busy (even though this should not be an excuse). However, my last trip is the reason for my review, I stopped for coffee and a bagel in the morning before work, I was THE ONLY PERSON in the place, it took them more than 10 minutes to work on my order. I stopped there instead of stopping at Tim Hortons but honestly I should’ve went to Tim Hortons. There were atleast 4 people working that I can see, not sure how many were in the kitchen also. I saw them use the wrong milk for my coffee even though I specified oat milk, she used 2%. There was another staff member who kept chatting and chatting to the barista that was making my coffee, which slowed down my order. It’s extremely frustrating having to wait for your order and seeing it be ready but delayed due to staff chatting amongst themselves. I mentioned to the person taking my order that I needed it to go and that I needed to get to work, none of the staff seemed to care that there’s a customer waiting, just continued to chat. I would totally understand if there were other customers ahead of me or if my order was complicated or big, but honestly It shouldn’t take so long to get 1 coffee and 1 bagel ready, especially if you’re open in the morning for people who would ideally order before work. It was nice to finally get a nice cafe in the north side but seriously the...
