I lived in Ottawa for a few years and let me tell you Ottawa has shawarma places in almost every corner of the city. Ottawa has one of the largest Lebanese population in the world outside of Lebanon. They do shawarma right in Ottawa. I had to move to Calgary and then Edmonton and I've searched and searched for over 6 years for something remotely close to what Shawarma Palace and Shawarma King offered in Ottawa. I found nothing but just okay chicken shawarmas. I've tried countless of places! This day finally arrived and I can't contain my excitement! I didn't have high hopes because of the many times I was let down in the past. But their chicken shawarma is the real deal!!! If you want something like the best shawarma places in Ottawa have to offer, try this place! I prefer Lebanese shawarmas to other types of shawarmas and they have the right mix of spices. Their garlic sauce (toum) is strong just like the ones in Ottawa. There are a few things that differ because this bakery does not offer shawarma plates and garlic potatoes but the taste of the chicken and the sauce and the spices are just chef's kiss

Skip all the other sandwiches, burgers, etc. This is absolutely one the best things $10 can buy. Their large shawarma is about 12 inches long. I was shocked when I got it. It was so delicious though that I finished it all. The way they wrapped it was different than most places I've tried. They wrapped it thin enough so that nothing falls out and you don't make a lot of mess. They don't skimp on the chicken either. What a discovery today!

I DISCOVERED the WORST customer service HERE. I and my family were used to be very regular customers for several years to this place until today. We do travel across the city to be there which was not appreciated by the manager at all. Last time we ordered chicken shawarma, a meat pie and a packaged dozen of small meat pies to go. The meat amount was substantially REDUCED in ALL the items. As a loyal customer, I decided not to jump writing review before I speak to staff as feedback and give them a second chance to correct it. I ordered today chicken shawarma and a meat pie for me and my very young son. I was very clear to the cashier, and I did explain the quality of food we did receive before and hoping to correct it like the previous quality that we used to come here for. As a courtesy, He decided to make those orders with extra meat on them. What surprised me, the manager (the big guy ) came with the sandwich, slammed it over the counter, the chicken fell off the sandwich on the other side of the counter and told me that I should pay for this extra meat next time. I was in a state of shock, totally no respect for customers, I explained that I only gave feedback to improve their business and never intentionally asked for extra meat. In fact, it was offered by the staff. The manager didn't even apologize, he didn't even care for what I was trying to explain. Such a shame on you to treat your loyal customers like this. I have been in many takeaway and restaurant in my life, I am a google guide and I always look to improve the quality of food in my city. My family and I have been long time patrons of Sunbake. I figured it was a no brainer to book the restaurant to cater my daughter’s birthday party. I first submitted a catering request through their website, did not receive a reply so I went ahead and called the restaurant. I spoke with the owner directly and decided to go in person to confirm. I went in and paid for over 400 dollars worth of food, confirmed delivery to the party for May tenth at 1030 am. On the day of the party, I called in the morning to confirm delivery. I did not hear back from the restaurant or the owner until 1040! 10 minutes after food was to be delivered. I answered the call, expecting it to be a call to verify the location, or to let me know that my food was outside of the play place. To my surprise, it was the owner, asking if my food was still needed for tomorrow’s event. I let him know that the food was needed for right now, and the date was specified for the tenth , not Sunday the 11th. He proceeeded to insist that it was for the following day, and that he had no idea that the event was on the 10th. I had 20 hungry kids and 25 hungry adults and no food. He offered a refund and continued to insist that it was for the following day. My husband had to scramble to find a location to buy food around the play place to feed our guests. No accountability, no apology and a ruined birthday party. Never again will I order from the unorganized establishment . I advise anyone to steer clear from ordering catering from here.
