The biggest issue with this location is the lack of transparency and courtesy toward dietary restrictions. I visited Siam Thai Kitchen at 15883 116 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta, and ordered the spicy coconut soup, assuming it was safe like at their North location, which advertises everything as halal. The menu didn’t mention chicken or chicken stock. While waiting, I looked it up and found that such soups often include stock, so I asked the waitress to confirm. She checked with the chef and said yes, it contains chicken stock.

When I asked if it was halal, she refused to show any label or proof. Instead, she said, “If you had it at our North location, you can eat it here too.” I explained that I didn’t know it had chicken stock before, and even she wasn’t aware until she asked. Despite not eating a single spoonful, I was still charged $26.

This isn’t about the money- it’s about respect, religious sensitivity, and ingredient transparency. If chicken stock is used, it should be clearly stated on the menu. On top of that, the washroom was extremely small and not clean.

To add to the experience, the moment you walk in, the entire place feels ghosted- quiet, dull, and lifeless. It doesn’t feel welcoming at all.

I only came here because it was closer, but I regret not driving to the North location. Very disappointing...

Ordered from Skip the Dishes and food did not disappoint! Ordered the pad thai, broccoli and beef stir fry, and paneng curry.

Right after putting my order in I got a phone call from Esther (I think this was her name), who was super nice and she wanted to confirm what protein I wanted in the curry (I picked chicken)! She also recommended I have the coconut rice with my meal and I obliged, and so glad I did because it tasted so good with the beef and curry.

The pad thai tasted a little different than what I'm used to, but to be fair I usually just order pad thai from Thai Express or Syphay in downtown Edmonton. Still very good though! Both the beef and the chicken in the stir fry and curry were tender and both of the dishes were flavorful! Our meal was packaged very well with no leakage.

Portions were good and we were able to have a total of 5 servings from what we ordered. Could probably be divided up more but we indulged. Kept good as leftovers! I will definitely order from...

This small restaurant opened during COVID...June 2020 . It not only survived the pandemic but it still going strong . When we walked in , the place was already getting busy . One hostess does it all . She welcomes you and seats you , takes your order , puts a water jug on the table . We placed our order and I got up to use the bathroom. Yikes !!!! It's like walking into a freezer!!! You poor ladies .. Other than that . It was spotless . When I walked out , I heard some music coming from somewhere . A robotic server carrying out plates to diners . Pretty cool . It told us " the blue flashing lights are your dishes you ordered ". I really wanted to see what it would have said if I took the wrong plate . But it wasn't to be . The hostess appeared and put our plates in front of us . Food was very well portioned and it was delicious.. we took some home. As for the atmosphere... The floor is concrete ( not common to see that ) and overall looked cozy . Would we come back...

We had red curry and pad Thai. They both had good portion sizes (not huge though), were quite tasty, though not perfect to my taste. Maybe it's a north American palette thing, but many Thai places make their food wayyyy too sweet, this location not an exception. I feel like I am having a dessert instead of a main dish. IMO ethnic restaurants should make authentic food true to their traditional recipe. Times have changed, there is no need to cater to so called local tastes that may have also evolved. Customers will reward restaurants for their authenticity. Another thing is the beef is not tender enough, had to chew on it very hard. Lastly they also charged me the price of coconut rice even though I ordered Jasmine rice, didn't realized until after I have left. I may still be back if I want somewhat of a Thai food (even a mutated version), I mean TBH the competition is even worse. Prices are on the high side considering the location (it's in an industrial park, rent must be super cheap!)
