Went to check out Pho Binh Dan after seeing it on instagram - was promoted by one of the Edmonton food influencers. We showed up on a Sunday just around noon and it wasn't to busy yet (definitely filled up while we were there though). The restaurant is a fair size. There were only 2 noticeable servers while we were there so they quite busy attending to all the patrons making the service decent but nothing memorable. We ordered a Bun Bo Hue, a Beef Satay Soup and spring rolls. The soups were a good price ($12) and a decent size. Our food came fairly quick and we were left to our lunch. Our waitress came back once when we flagged her down for more water but no additional service or check ins, which was fine with us. The satay soup wasn't particularly spicy but it had a good amount of peanut nuttiness to it. I do with it had a bit more flavor but, overall, it was worth trying. My dining companion said he liked the flavor of the Bun Bo Hue and it also had a bit of spice to it. Overall, I would say Pho Binh Dan is worth a try and probably a decent choice if your in that area of the city. The most alluring quality is probably the $12 soups! I can't actually remember the last time I had a bowl of pho for $12 in the city.

I've ordered from them before and the food was basic but fresh, so we gave it another try. I'm really surprised to see how many good reviews there are considering how bad our order was... Spicy noodles were not just not spicy but actually flavorless, and the beef looked questionable (see picture). The salad rolls came falling apart, like someone failed at wrapping them and just dumped them in and hoped we wouldn't notice. Maybe we just got unlucky but the fact that every part of our order was not great is pretty telling. I feel bad because I like to support small businesses and I know the price of ingredients has gone up, but this was REALLY disappointing. Hope they were just having an off night. Oh, the broth was good, so they have that going for them.

Stumbled upon this hole in the wall restaurant and didn't really have high expectations. Came just to try out their $10 dall day specials. Got the Pho Satay and Bun Bo Hue to try. We were so pleasantly surprised by how amazing both soups were. The satay was a perfect blend of peanut and coconut flavour. Decent spice level too (milder side). Portion size was good too. Plenty of beef. As for the Bun Bo Huez my favorite was the soup. Plenty of lemongrass and shrimp paste flavour. My recommendation is to pay the extra $4 for the XL size, as it's so addictive. For the prices, you can't go wrong with the $10. The interior of the restaurant is pretty run down, but again, for the price, I'd do it again..and again.

I LOVE this restaurant! Huge selection and top quality ingredients. Owners are friendly and professional. Every dish I’ve had from here has been on point!

New review: I was wondering why the quality of food went down over the past year. When I went to dine in for the first time in a long time, as I usually grab take out, I asked where the friendly owner has been and that I missed him and his great personality. They told me the restaurant is under new management. The service is still great but the food is not even close to as good as it used to be under the old owner. Definitely lost 2 stars for food quality from me. And lost one star from atmosphere because the old owner made you feel so welcome and always had a smile.

I really miss him. He took those extra steps to go above and beyond any other restaurant and now it’s no longer my favourite restaurant. Very very sad. It pains me to even have to write anything bad...

Usually don't comment, but really disappointed on the non-service, price increases and small portions. Went in for their pho special at $10 a few times for lunch as it was near my work and it was ok for the price, nothing special otherwise. However the last meal I had yesterday was really bad. The portions are now smaller than your typical small bowl of pho. I had their special pho and their normal bowl of pho was mostly soup and no substance. I know they want to bring in more customers, however, cutting these corners will hurt your business, literally had only 1 mini piece/each of their cut meats in the pho, not to mention the new skimpiness, soup tasted mostly like msg, finished the pho in under 5 mins and feeling unsatisfied as it was quite small now. Not planning to return and entertain their tactics even at this price. New owners please do what's good for your customers than for yourself. Others dine...
