Growing up in a Indian family makes you very picky about Indian food . I don’t usually order Indian food from Indian restaurants in Edmonton because they do not satisfy my taste buds, and there is no authenticity and my cravings for Indian food does not go away after trying their food .
One of my colleague introduce me to TASTY INDIAN RESTAURANT about few months back . I thought I’d give it a try . I tell you what being a decent chef myself , the service they provide me for the first time i ordered food makes me call them every time when I am hungry . They provide you with very top notch Indian food with very authentic taste ( the taste you get when your mom cooks food at home ) . I have been ordering food from Tasty for about few months now and they have never disappointed my taste buds . Even my co workers they love their food , they are from Morocco so they do not like very spicy food so when ever they order the cooks at tasty restaurant will happily adjust the spice level to baby mild which most of the Indian restaurants they cannot provide in Edmonton .
The people who works at tasty restaurant are very very helpful and kind they will always send you free treats with you order which most of the restaurants in Edmonton does not provide . The Owner Venka is a very kind person and he always listens to his customers and always provides best of the food to his customers .
My favorites are Tandoori chicken , chicken / goat biryani , chicken Karachi , fish pakoras , and chicken masala .
Please folks give them a try , I bet they won’t disappoint you or your taste buds
Thank you Tasty for the wonderful experience every time we...
Read moreOkay, I hate to finally speak out about this place buy Google maps has asked me specifically to correct some errors and with the corrections I had to make comes the review.
This is probably one of the best hidden gems in edmonton for Indian food. Let me explain.
This is 3 family members in a kitchen making food in a restaurant that has 3 tables in it to sit. Exactly what you'd expect to find if you went for a trip to India. The food, once you order a few items ($60 range or more) literally tastes like a indian mother has cooked it. So often when I get food from here for people that want Indian food I hear "this is the best.... I've ever had" (in edmonton)
I'm going to give you a little bit of advice if you get this far into my recommendation. They have a menu online to order from, and as the food is super authentic, how can I word this, so are the people working there. If you call in a large order, expect a few errors. But their online menu, which you can access from here, is super straight forward and you get small bonuses like free Naan bread ordering online. I would suggest to pick it up instead of using like skip the dishes. The portions, well, each ordered item can feed 4 people easily.
This is a hole in the wall, local knowledge best of the best restaurant.
Only downside is I can't say plan to eat there. It's literally 3 tables. And most of the seats are taken by people waiting for their takeout meals.
Out of the 500 or 600 reviews I have done for Google, this is 1 of 4 places that got 5 stars for every category. Super recommend...
Read moreWe didn't necessarily go in, but we got their food through uber eats. Saw they had a promo going at the time so we got their paneer butter masala (BOGO), butter chicken, garlic Naan, coconut rice, steamed rice, tandoori chicken, and lamb samosa. Seems like a lot of food, we know, but it's the weekend and we don't wanna cook for a couple days lol. We got the food cause, due to our baby, we had to leave a wedding reception early and we were gonna have indian anyways (fijian Indian party). The samosa...so good. My husband doesn't normally like samosas but he loved the lamb ones and I did too! They weren't spicy like most restaurants have them. The chutney that came with it made it better. The tandoori chicken was okay, felt it was a little on the bland side, however, with the dahniya chutney, SO good. Butter chicken, always a good option, had a little spice to it which I didn't like too much, but still good with the coconut rice and helped to tame the spice down. Same with the paneer butter masala. Overall, my husband and I will definitely be trying to go to the restaurant/store since it's not too far from our home. This is now in our top 5 of Indian...
