Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe pizza at stone and wheel is fantastic! I want to make that point right away. Iāve ordered from here several times and have never been disappointed with the food.
However, the service was chaotic. I waited 30 minutes past my pickup time before I walked out with my food.
Pizzas were piling up on the counter, in the kitchen, overtop the oven. The staff opened boxes numerous times to figure out which pizza was which. Pizzas that had been cooked 10 minutes prior just ādisappearedā. Staff were asking customers what they ordered because they couldnāt match printouts to the food in front of them.
Staff claimed that they were āslammedā due to all the orders but there really werenāt that many, certainly not more than a staff of four could handle on a Wednesday night.
The issue wasnāt excessive orders, it was logistics. There was no process in place to handle more than two orders at a time. Either the processes in place are ineffective, or the staff arenāt properly trained to implement them.
I love Stone and Wheel, and really want to support a local business, but the disorder and lack of service will drive customers away, and thatās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis neighbourhood pizza place in Aspen Gardens is the real deal. They bring in and hand slice their own fresh vegetables, mix their own dough, make their own sauce, grate their cheese fresh, and they are happy to customize to personal preferences. They are not famous for consistency, but just tell them how you like it (e.g. "light on cheese, heavy on sauce") and that is what you will get. Vegetables are fresh sliced and put on raw - garden style. Their sauce, medium-thin crust, and the quality of cheeses and toppings are all top notch. Owned and run by a family right in the neighbourhood, with many of the staff walking or biking to work. The commitment to customer satisfaction very unusual for a pizza place. Mostly a take-out business, but they do have a few tables for eating in. Before Stone & Wheel, most of the pizza we ate was made at home. Now it seems our recycle bin is stacked with their pizza boxes. It's the only place we go now for...
