Maple Restaurant — Restaurant in Elliot Lake

The staff was friendly but the food was substandard, I guess for being the only Chinese restaurant in Elliot Lake they can get away with below average food quality with small portions. I love that the restaurant is of old Canadian Chinese style from the 1960's. My suggestion to the restaurant is to increase the freshness and lower the prices. My chopsuey was the worst I've ever had mind you the hot and sour soup was ok, my wife's chicken fried rice was dry and tasteless and my kids had chicken balls and they hardly liked them and it all came to 57 dollars for hardly any food. The prices are outrageous considering in Toronto or London you can get each menu item cheaper with way bigger portions! You think they would want reasonable prices in a small town, I would recommend this location when they make...

Customer phone service was good. Our order arrived on time and order was complete though some plum sauce would have been nice for the complimentary fried wontons which was the best thing going.

Golden chicken wings $10.50 come fried ,unbattered with the wing portion attached (7 wings) and are dissapointing. Please cut off ends and batter or bread the wings which will bulk up the box and the wings will be nice and crisp like the super awesome wontons!!!

Seafood deluxe. $17.50 I would not order this again. Didnt notice any scallops or see much crab. One of the fish balls tasted fishy. Shrimp are popcorn . Sauce is so so with a few veggies.

Plain fried rice. It was plain, fried, and definitely rice.

The restaurant is clean but the food is substandard, we had fried rice but there was nothing in it except a few pieces of yesterday's chicken, the fryer oil needs changing badly. We were also served sweet and sour chicken balls and chop suey. Pretty hard to screw up the chopseuy mind you it was very bland but the sweet and sour sauce well it was something to be desired, I best explain it as watered down ketchup. This town has many excellent restaurants and this one could be one of them, the service was good the waitress was a very pleasant young women but they need some help in the kitchen. I truly hope they can overcome...
