Mum's Place — Restaurant in Elliot Lake

Mum's is fairly down at the heels. It reminds me of a 80s café/diner. Nothing special, but adeqaute. The coffee left a lot to be desired, too. The prices are reasonable, but one of the members of my party got a piece of eggshell in her meal, which in and of itself is no big deal, BUT there was also a hair in it, too.🤢 They seem also to have crowded in a few TOO MANY tables making it very difficult to navigate from door to table. Went for brunch. The omelet was good, but they gave me sour, grey home fries. The waitress never came back to ask how my food was until the omelet was gone. I told her the home fries were sour and spoiled. She took the plate and never came back. No apology or offer to replace. My bill was $21 for the meal and a coffee. The owner cashed me out and didn't offer a discount or an apology for serving me spoiled food. Unacceptable. Will...

We love Mum's! Don't let the age of the building fool you. They have great food, especially their Chicken and Dumpling soup, their restaurant, while dated, is always clean and the service is fast and friendly. Our recommendation would be any of the chicken based soups and the grilled cheese with bacon on rye, a wonderful lunch for a phenomenal price...
