A&W Canada — Restaurant in Esquimalt

This A&W location has repeatedly let us down. I was so excited to move to this neighbourhood and have an A&W close by, but have been so disappointed by the service. I know this is a fast food restaurant, and I'm not expecting a 5 star restaurant treatment. But the staff have been rude, and there have been a few instances where the staff have clearly shut down the restaurant before it's actually closed.

On one occasion, as we were driving through the drive through lane to order - we watched as the lights in the restaurant got turned off even though they were still supposed to be open for another half an hour. Nobody came to the service window even though there were people inside and they just turned the lights off to make it look closed so they didn't have to serve us.

On another occasion - New Year's Eve - their sign was advertising that they were open until 8 pm. Around 730, I went up to the window to ask if they were open still because it was dark inside, but there were people working. A simple "no, we are closing early because it's New Year's Eve" would have been totally fine - but the person who I spoke to replied with a snarky "um no? It's new years eve or something?" Totally unnecessary and rude. Like, I get it, you're just a teenager working at an A&W, but you can still just be nice lol.

There have been a few other times where we have gotten messed up orders or our food was cold. Just overall seems like the staff working there don't care at all. Really unfortunate and we just won't eat at this location anymore, I'd rather drive to a location further away than deal with poor attitude and a lack of desire to do the...

heading to esquimalt so thought I'd grab the fam an old fav, stood in practicly empty place with 2 drive thru workers and no front one to be found, neither of these workers said a word to me for about 8 min and I'm litterally right in front of them, they talked amongst themselves while standing at the food bin waiting for drive-thru orders. finally she comes over stands at the till and says "yes" lol placed my order and paid and then i realised she messed up and she had to add the rest.. it was a a combo and 1 other item but I could tell she wasent really listening so it was bound to happen. no smiles no greeting 16 min later I got half my food, chaced them down for the rest and my drink and would have all been a forgotten moment but when I got home the onion rings were so burnt there was no onions left in them, they disintegrated lol fries were dried out and unedible (sitting somewhere obviously a long time or overcooked) the burger bun was soaked in Grease or liquid of some kind and I mean soaked like it was dipped in water. top it off it was great seeing them grab the tops of the fries and rings and pop them in the bag, most of their palm was litterally on my food. anyways the dog got the patty and the rest was garbage so I wasted over 25 to learn not to go there again. short staffed sure and no smiles I can handle but I still paid for the food so if you use staffing as an excuse for bad product then shut down until u can do it right. root beer was...

I do not usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so to caution the public and bring this serious issue to the attention of whoever is responsible for this location

Last night, around 10 PM, my partner and I got burgers from this location that were severely undercooked, which resulted in my partner waking up this morning with food poisoning. We were quite hungry, so we had a few bites without looking at the burgers, before realizing that they tasted irregular. As we inspected them, we found that the burgers were assembled sloppily with an exceptional amount of mustard, and most importantly, both of our patties were undercooked.

We threw our burgers out right away, but the damage had already been done… Luckily for me, I had a veggie burger, so I only experienced light nausea in the morning, but I can’t say the same for my partner who consumed a undercooked beef patty.

I understand the annoyance of working a night shift at a fast-food joint, but this is a severe food safety risk. I’m shocked that anyone in their right mind thought these burgers were in any way up to standard to serve.

As a popular location where many locals visit, there needs to be a certain level of care and procedure that is consistently followed, especially when handling meat.

I am writing this to warn anyone reading: for the love of God, do not go to this location until the issue has been properly addressed. I do not want anyone else to go through the pain we are currently...
