Humble location. Huge flavours. Google rating rings true
A friend recommended Spice Valley a week ago and I finally had a reason to celebrate with a night out with family last night and took their recommendation to try this place. DID NOT DISAPPOINT The setting isn't fine dining, in fact I think this restaurant has turned over several times in the last decade but I hope the Spice Valley is there to stay. Service was friendly and warm and accommodating. We were 5 @ 8pm at a restaurant that closed at 930 but that was fine with the staff. They pushed a couple tables together and cleaned up quickly for us. The menu is typical of most Indian restaurants by had fewer items which I actually appreciate. I saw my favorites and convinced my party they'd enjoy the dishes I picked Fish Tikka, butter chicken, aloo gobi, bindi masala and goat curry. All medium spicy. It took a good time to arrive so that indicated they prepared it all fresh. When it arrived, and almost at the same time, another good sign, the food was hot, aromatic and plentiful. And. Damn. So good. 4.8 rating on Google is accurate. So delish. We'll be back again very soon to try other dishes. We were full but one person agreed to try the rice pudding (homemade) We all took a spoonful and it was so good, we added two more orders to the leftovers we had to take with us. Yes, fed five with two servings left for leftovers today! On of the party was my mother in law and I'll tell you, she's Indian and she cooks well enough to lead a kitchen in her own right. The look on her face (of contemptuous satisfaction) was enough to let me know she enjoyed every bite. That was more high praise than I could ever give the kitchen staff. Please If you live in or near the Esquimalt area, give them a try; they won't disappoint. I saw Skip the Dishes in and out frequently last night. If you're an introvert it just not a fan of dining out, order in and enjoy. 4.5 stars I'd give it 5 but I really wanted more choices of local beer. Fat Tug is delicious but serving the bland commercial beers is......
Read moreI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the food we received from your restaurant through Uber Eats yesterday. We ordered Goat Curry and Butter Chicken, but the quality and preparation of the Butter Chicken were far below our expectations. Initially, we mistook the pieces in the Butter Chicken for paneer, which was quite surprising. Upon closer inspection, we realized it was indeed chicken, but it did not resemble what should be used in a Butter Chicken recipe. From my understanding, the chicken should be marinated with tandoori masala and cooked in a tandoor before being added to the butter chicken gravy. Unfortunately, the dish we received did not meet these standards. Overall, our dining experience was very disappointing. We were not satisfied with the meals you served us.
Certainly! Here's a message you can use to express your appreciation:
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the way you handled my recent complaint regarding the Butter Chicken dish I had ordered. Your swift response and the complimentary Butter Chicken Tikka Masala you provided were truly impressive.
The Butter Chicken Tikka Masala was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich and authentic, and it was evident that a lot of care went into its preparation.
Thank you for turning my previous experience around with such a delightful dish. Your commitment to customer satisfaction is commendable, and I look forward to dining at your restaurant again soon.

Read moreIf you're craving authentic, flavorful Indian food in Victoria, look no further than Spicy Valley. As a takeout only establishment, this humble curry house may be easy to miss. But one bite of their delicious, reasonably priced fare and you'll be hooked.
My favorite dishes on their menu include the tandoori chicken, daal makhani, eggplant bharta and bhindi do pyaza. The tandoori chicken is cooked to juicy perfection with a wonderful spice coating that's not too overwhelming. The daal makhani is rich and creamy with just the right balance of spices. And the eggplant bharta and bhindi do pyaza are vibrant veggie dishes bursting with flavor.
Whether you order classics like butter chicken, rogan josh or saag paneer, each dish hits the mark. The flavorful, authentic curries are full of personality and intricately spiced to highlight both heat and complexity. You can truly taste the care and experience of the chefs who create the dishes.
Everything comes beautifully packaged for takeout with rice or naan, to complement your meal. The portion sizes are generous and the prices very reasonable for the high quality of ingredients and cooking.
While Spicy Valley Indian Cuisine operates as a tucked away takeout spot, they deserve more recognition for serving some of the finest, most authentic Indian food Victoria has to offer. I highly recommend giving them a try - you won't be disappointed! This humble curry house delivers big...
