We had a very disappointing experience dining at the Flint House. You advertise your establishment as cozy, casual dining & as being kid friendly. This was far from our experience. We visited your restaurant yesterday evening with a large party. The waitress who served our teens at their own table was less than friendly and treated them with an attitude the whole evening. In my opinion, they actually behaved well considering they waited for 1 1/2hours to get their dinners.( which arrived cold , for the most part) After we ate, we also waited for the bills for a very long time, ...by this time most of us were quite unhappy with our whole dining experience. A couple of us asked to speak to the manager, who unfortunately apparently was our pissed off waitress, so our concerns did not get through and were definitely not addressed appropriately. Once the bills did arrive,we were completely shocked to find out an automatic gratuity had been added.REALLY? A forced 18% tip for bad service...not my idea of a fine dining experience.I complained, only to be told "we are a fine dining restaurant, not Boston Pizza... " to be honest, I always have better service at Boston Pizza than we did at the Flint house! I understand waiting for food with a large party, but there is no excuse for poor service or attitude. Customer service is number one in the restaurant business, and this experience was by far one of the worst I've ever experienced. The manager did nothing about our complaints regarding the gratuity or poor service... even though I personally enjoyed my meal, the negative things we experienced outweighed anything positive. I will never return to the Flint House, & I can probably speak for everyone in our large group. Overall... I would not recommend it to others. When in Fort Frances, go to...
Read moreSo I came in at 6 and ordered a drink and bison burger… 6:10 waitress came back and informed me there was no more bison burgers… I smiled and told her the beef substitute would be fine. 6:45 I was my pint of beer, bartender and waitresses all looked at me empty drink in front, and nobody asked me if I’d like another… 7pm I asked if I could get a drink while a wait for my food? Bartender looks at me and says yes what would you like very annoyed. Drink shows up and my waitress comes by to tell me she’s sorry it’s very busy and apologized for the wait. I told her that I’d be out of there in 15 mins food or not. Obviously I’d pay for my drinks. 5 mins later my food shows up and the waitress tells me she’s giving me a discount for the wait and the lack of fries in my take out container. Looking back I should have opened it there as I was very disappointed when I got back to the hotel. Please look at the pics and video I’ve posted.
IMO go to Dairy Queen if you’re craving a burger…. There was no sauce on bun, no onion. Only “beef”, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and bacon I paid extra for. All in all a very bland very dry burger which I did eat entirely but the fries were inedible and i tossed them. Look at the pics and video.
Well apparently I can’t upload a video but you can clearly see how overdone the fires were. Cooked so much they were basically hollow….

Read moreIt was our wedding anniversary. We wanted to celebrate with a special dinner together but the first restaurant we chose had to close due to sudden staff illness, just as we were about to order. We were right at the Canadian border and so chose to cross into Fort Frances where The Flint House had been recommended, but we had no reservations, the place was packed, and there were almost a dozen people ahead of us. So we waited, happily chatting to an older couple and their daughter who were from Florida. The staff were so busy, but always had time to be kind and courteous. We looked at the menu, very enticing, while we waited, and when we were finally seated, we could order immediately. We both had 'Cantilever Chicken' as our main course, simply delicious! Chicken breast stuffed with spinach and brie, with caramelized onions topped with bacon jam, all served with fresh vegetables and baby red potatoes. Heaven! Sadly we had no room for desserts, and received our bill. Totally shocked by what was written there, we approached our waiter - and hugged him. Handwritten on the blank bill was the following message: "Happy Anniversary!! Everyone deserves a free meal once in a while." So, thank you, Florida family, for such a delightful surprise, and thank you Flint House, for the wonderful venue, amazing staff and delicious food. Truly an anniversary to...
