Dear Chess Piece
I am writing to express my utter disappointment with the service I received during my recent visit to your cafe and the concerning treatment of your staff members. The unpleasant experience I had was primarily due to the extremely poor management demonstrated by GREG.
First and foremost, I was shocked to witness the aggressive and unprofessional manner in which the manager was addressing your employees. His constant belittling, shouting, and public humiliation were not only uncalled for but also created a very uncomfortable atmosphere for customers like myself.
Furthermore, my simple request for assistance with my order was met with disdain and a dismissive attitude by GREG. He was not only unhelpful but also displayed a complete lack of interest in attending to my needs as a customer.
As a patron of your establishment, I expect a certain level of professionalism and courtesy from your staff, especially those in a managerial position. I implore you to take action in addressing the behavior exhibited by GREG to ensure that such incidents do not recur. It is imperative that employees are treated with respect and dignity, and that customers receive the level of service they deserve.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope that you will take the necessary steps to rectify the situation. As someone who has frequented your cafe in the past, I am truly disappointed and hope to see a positive change in management during my future...
Read moreThis small but hip location sells a range of freshly baked pastries, tarts, and cakes. When we went there was not much in the way of soups or sandwiches but the cafe board promised a "savory" menu to come. I had a large drip coffee, a croissant, an almond croissant, and sampled a prosciutto and parmesan croissant. The croissant was unusually doughy and dense, more like a buttery pie crust than the soft flaky pastry I would have expected. The almond croissant was more conventional and excellent - the filling was present but not cloying or overpowering. The bright and salty flavours of the prosciutto and parmesan were very present in the third. Prices ranged about 2 to 4 dollars - roughly what I would expect to pay.
This is a surprisingly good European style bakery for an area that has been quite conservative (bordering on bland) in its tastes. However, the coffee was not good. Yes, drip coffee is not sophisticated, but it can be done very well. The offering at this cafe was very watered-down, on par with a Tim Horton's or Dunkin' Donuts coffee. I had the dark roast; one of my colleagues had the light roast and had the same impression. I'd give the espresso-based...
Read moreI am delayed in writing this review, but don’t you delay on trying this gem. My niece took me & a friend on Friday. The atmosphere is warm & inviting, with an added layer of positive energy coming from the staff. The place is VERY accommodating to dietary needs/restrictions & staff are very patient. It was difficult to choose just one of the numerous delights they offer. Each one perfectly prepared, Michelin star perfect. We settled on the triple chocolate mouse with a flourless chocolate torte. Time seemed to stop on my first bite. My tastebuds danced with happiness, my eyes closed and a joyous song played in head. The mouse was so light and creamy, the torte was flavourful and provided just the right amount textural contrast. There was a thin glaze on top which provided just the right amount of sweetness to blend everything harmoniously. I may have embarrassed myself as I got lost in the moment, but it was definitely worth it. My only regret, I didn’t have a whole piece for myself. I will be back the next time I am in town. Thank you for sharing your talent...
