Visited Kyoto Hana today with a friend for lunch - we tried their veggie don, veggie kushi, kara age, ebi gyoza and edamame. The kushi was nice, loved the char on it; veggie don very flavourful - was a bit too sweet at some point, would rly love something pickled or savoury in it, otherwise tasted good! The ebi gyoza was very light and tasty, kara age was on point - perfectly crunchy! And u cant go wrong with edamame.
Staff is super friendly and I love the interior! Nice and cozy - love how they have small booths for more privacy.
Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Update (September 2025): Visited for lunch today with a friend and we ordered the mushroom pasta and vegetable stir fried soba noodles.
Mushroom pasta was very nice and creamy and the fried noodles tasted very good! One thing to remember when ordering veg dishes - ALWAYS ask the server if the dish has any animal products because my fried noodles initially came with bonito flakes even though there was no mention of them on the menu and the dish was also classified as vegetarian. However, the server was able to get me a new serving. I would still recommend confirming with the server...
Read moreThe food is quite good. Considering we are quite far from it's geographical roots, Sushi Fusion. No complaint, I had the Lobster Tempura, and Fire crunch, i was pleasantly surprised by the lobster tempura not what I expected and loaded with flavor, it has some heat, it's in the sauce. The fire crunch was mild in comparison but the flavors were very good. Monkey Brains was a total winner. Try it it's clever and good. We observed wasabi wasn't served, nor picked ginger but this may be part of the fusion experience they wanted to represent, I have no complaint. The wait staff was good. Our young woman served us well. Albeit we sussed her as new to this style of of food. We want her to succeed there. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to serve each employee a different entree before each shift to familiarize with the food. P.S. the restrooms are very clean, I was not...
Read moreVery new establishment, just finding their footing. Lots of potential here once they iron out the kinks.
Lots of interesting options and the donburi bowls are very tasty and good value. Personally found the kushiyaki to be a bit over-charred but some like it this way. It also didn't seem super traditional, but was still tasty and the meats very tender. The "Monkey brain" was a stand out.
Service was quick, but there was nobody to greet us at the front and we had to find someone at the bar to be seated. Hopefully that's something they can address as they get their...
