Chez Wally's — Restaurant in Gatineau

Wally's is the new location for one of the best food trucks I ever ate at. For a few years now their truck has been seen at events and regularly parked near the River on Jacques Cartier street during the summer. They have a small menu of creative tweaks for favourites like poutine, fries, burgers, sausages and other goodies many of us have grown with. It is NOT a huge menu; instead they prepare each item with care. All the food is fresh. Many of the ingredients are 100% local. If you're looking for a fancy and pretentious meal, this is not the right place. Come here for comfort foods that those of us who grew up here are used to. You will be served by the owner and his extended family, with a smile and good humour. Note that the building is very small and not setup for protected seating indoors. There are steps to the entrance but the staff will step outside to take your order in person. I'm sure there are solutions to the space and steps coming soon, and that's the only reason for the 4 stars in...

We were just looking for a fast lunch in Gatineau and stumbled upon Wally's food truck. On our way to his food truck, we were amazingly pleased with the view of the beautiful community across the river. There was a very nice walk area and bike lane.

Wally's truck was parked in that big parking lot so you won't miss it.

We were welcomed by a smiling face, Wally who explained to us his meals. We even had the chance to try his Wally's gravy before buying so that was extra nice. His gravy had a little hint of spice, and really good.

We ordered the spicy Deli panini, Philly steak panini, large poutine, cheese dog and pop.

All in all, it was very flavorful and filling sandwiches that's reasonably priced.

I didn't actually go the restaurant Chez Wally's but rather the food truck during an event at Parc Mousette in Gatineau. The explosive panini was was wonderful. Sandwiches aren't usually my go-to meal but this was well balanced between meat, cheese, sauce...easy to eat and very easy to enjoy! Service was great. The wait didn't feel long at all and panini was warm and fresh! It was a very hot day today so the atmosphere could have been better, but I don't think Chez Wally controls the weather, yet! ;-) Highly recommend visiting the Chez Wally's food truck for amazing panini sandwich! Looking forward to visiting the restaurant...
