I travel for work and have for the last 5 years which lands me in GP a couple times a month at least. Wapiti Bean truly is one of my favorite parts about coming to GP (maybe the only LOL). The atmosphere is cute and inviting and the food is incredible. I always get a sandwich and soup or chili and the donut flavors are awesome! But every single time, the service is horrendous. They operate at the slowest pace I have ever witnessed. Yesterday, it was 35 minutes for a dozen donuts and a bowl of chili. The chili is obviously prepared either the night before or the morning of (no shame) so when you order it, it should be as simple as scooping it in the bowl, maybe heating it up if necessary which shouldn't be longer than a couple minutes. Donuts are already prepared and in the display case so its just a matter of boxing them upon order. The most I should've spent there was 10 minutes. This isn't a 1 off situation either. This is the occurrence every time I visit this establishment. Service staff don't appear to have a care in the world about how long you are waiting, no sense of urgency whatsoever. i imagine majority of the customers stopping by here are on their way to work or coming in during a lunch break and don't have an unlimited amount of time to wait. It truly is sad to see as it is such great food and a wonderful location but with service so slow I don't know that people will have the opportunity to try any of it. It has been like this since I started coming here about 5 years ago and never seems to improve. If you have an hour to kill, I definitely recommend checking this place out! If you're on any kind of time crunch or restricted schedule, pass on the...
Read moreI donât like leaving bad reviews, but please be aware of your bill before paying. The girl who served me at the counter was too busy writing on pieces of paper, I believe they were scriptures, to pay attention to the customers waiting in line. Once she acknowledged the long line waiting, she was only half paying attention to what she was doing. She was very fixated on her paper writing. She ended up messing up on more than one order, including mine own. She overcharged me by quite a bit. At first, I thought it was due to the person I was paying for had perhaps ordered food without me knowing it. I found out after she had only ordered one drink. My bill came to $30 for a mint tea and a medium coffee. When I returned to the counter, the person who served me previously didnât know what to do, so I spoke to someone else working there. The new server said they would refund the total to my card and then got me to pay for my order over again. I thought that was good and it was over and done with.
I checked my account the next day to make sure that I was refunded and I hadnât been yet. It was the weekend, so I thought it might not go through until Monday. Monday came and I noticed I was only partially refunded to my card, but I was also charged for my two drinks over again, so the amount I paid total equalled the same. I didnât bother calling or following up, because I was frustrated. Iâd prefer just not go back there again. Iâm leaving my story here to warn others to be careful at this establishment and any place you go to pay by card and make sure that your total equals what you...
Read moreSo, I absolutely love the atmosphere, so relaxing, well decorated and furnished, and the service is always stellar with smiles all over the place. The only thing I canât understand is the lack of quality with the coffee, Iâve seen other reviews where the response is â a filter issue or a bad batchâ however I have literally tried everything on the menu as I have lived in GP for almost ten years and keep giving the benefit of the doubt and the best thing is the chocolate milkshake because it actually has flavour. For a group with such taste when it comes to design, Iâm shocked at such consistently bitter, watery and flavourless coffee. I tip for good service, but I especially tip for a consistently great product and unfortunately wapiti bean co does not have that. (Ps. why did you guys add vegetables with the sandwiches and increase the price by three dollars, my usual was a chocolate shake with a shot of espresso and two roast beef sandwiches but I simply cannot afford a 30 dollar coffee...
