I've gone to Sheshu's a number of times with friends and family and have ordered delivery dozens of times and this is the first time that I feel like I was being treated poorly or got a sub-par product. For reference, I (white woman) visited with two indian friends after work because we all chose indian food. The service has always been a bit hit and miss, but it's an odd setup, the servers aren't really able to see the tables to see if they need anything, so often you get ignored until you go to the counter or call them over. But they are usually wonderful once you have their attention. This time, we ordered the coconut chicken and the goat vindaloo and some appies to share. The coconut chicken was amazing, very smooth and flavourful, (and my paneer pakora was delicious) but the vindaloo was very salty. I wasn't going to complain, I just wasn't going to eat it, but my indian friends said that it is too salty (I agreed, but since I had not had goat vindaloo specifically before, I wasn't sure it wasn't supposed to be salty because you probably need salt to tenderize goat meat). Taking their word for it, we asked for the kitchen to fix the vindaloo and did tell them it was too salty (again, I didn't do the complaining). They took the dish back to the kitchen and brought it back again and we collectively assumed that they just added tomato paste and warmed it back up, because all we could taste was tomato paste. None of us were enjoying it, and told the server as such. She was very apologetic and took the meal back to the kitchen, and we assumed that it would be removed from the bill since it was sent back twice now. We were offered a complimentary dessert ($5 mango rasmalai) and accepted. When we paid, I didn't check the receipt until we walked out, but we were charged for the vindaloo. So we went back in and asked to be refunded for that portion of the meal ($18). They explained to me that the $5 dessert was to make up for the meal. I explained in return that a $5 dessert in no way balances out an $18 meal and that complimentary means "free", not in exchange. In response, we had a rude man from the back come out and demand that I tell him what I didn't like about his vindaloo. I'll be honest, I don't like when people get in my face, and his rudeness put me on edge, so I was likely less polite than I could have been, because after the first few exchanges I returned his rude vibe. I explained again that it was too salty, and the "fixed" version was not good for us either. At no point did he ask my indian friends their opinion on the meal, instead focusing on me and telling me how vindaloo is made and that "no other customer has ever complained about his food" and that he will not write it off because it's not store policy. I work at a restaurant, as do my friends that accompanied me, proudly making great food for people every day, so I get it, no cook wants to have their food returned to them uneaten, twice. But, if you want to retain customers, sometimes you have to take the $6.32 loss on food cost to get more in the long run. And also, maybe not be a condescending and rude jerk? We likely would have continued to go to Sheshu's in the future (though not ordering the vindaloo), but now, they have permanently lost three customers, over an $18 food item, because their (I assume) head chef couldn't handle criticism or customer service in a constructive and forward thinking way and decided to be confrontational when it...
Read moreDisappointed !! This restaurant was my fav in GP but today I had the worst experience. We 3 friends went there to have a good meal but unfortunately the rudeness of the headchef (not sure if he was) made us never wana come back there ever again. We ordered goat vindaloo , coconut chicken and other appetizers which anyways took so long to come on the table (by the way we were the only ones there), we didn’t even mind the timing since we were expecting a good meal. Goat vindaloo was way too salty so we told the girl about it n she took it back to get it fixed. My friend who isn’t even Indian had one bite n thought it’s probably how it was made but me n another friend knew thts not how it’s made since it was way way salty not to mention that we 3 friends are chef anywys. So anywys the girl got it back after ‘fixing’ it but their fixation meant putting more tomatoe paste lol. It was still not edible so we returned it back n not to mention it was full portion since we just tasted a bit to see if it was even fixed. The girl did apologize to us n took it back n in return she said we could have any desert as complementary since our order was messed up. So my friend took mango rasmali costing around 5bucks probably. Now the worst part, they charged us for the goat vindaloo !!! When my friend confronted them n asked them to get off the bill since we didn’t even eat it , the headchef came out in very defensive n rude manner. He started asking my friend (white ofcourse) what was wrong in his vindaloo, she ofcourse said it was very salty n the fix wasn’t right either . He just couldn’t handle the review by us n defended saying tht no one ever complained abt it which wasn’t our concern . He said it’s company policy tht he can’t take it off n thts y he gave complimentary dessert , he probably doesn’t know the meaning of complimentary!! Plus how does $5 complimentary item compensate $18 curry?! Anywys we still would have let it go but the headchef was very rude n he wasn’t able to take any criticism. The rest of the food was good no doubt but customer service handled by him was the worst. Lost 3 customers today . I always preferred this restaurant over others but now I don’t even wana go there ever again. As a chef only one advice learn to take criticism so tht u can make it more better n learning is...
Read moreNormally I don't write reviews until I am 100% satisfied or not at all satisficed but in this case people who work their don't how to run the business and provide proper customer service.
I just went through this restaurant by the review but I was super disappointing by their food and service in shot everything was worst even I would like to give minus 10 review if there is an option.
first when I ordered a food the girl said it will ready in 20-30 mins and when I reached there after 30 mins food wasn't ready at all so had to wait 10 mins there that was okay. I was driving to the Fort St john so I have ordered Veg Biriyani and Vada Pav for my dinner and when i reached hotel and opened Biriyani it was Non Veg and that was gross so i thought lets try Vada Pav and it was not even nearly cooked at all. it was all besan and the taste like it was old more than a week or so I don't know how they do business by doing this kind of service and getting this much positive reviews. I am not done yet.
After all that I called around 8 PM to explain what happened and the guy said please hold on and in couple second he disconnected the line so I called again and the lady said I am sorry and all that and the she took my name and number and told me my boss will give me a call as soon as possible to give me a refund but it's been 4 days now and I don't understand what's the meaning of as soon as possible here.
So I would advised everyone just don't go with high hopes. you will get...
