A&W Canada — Restaurant in Greater Napanee

I had previously tried the Steakhouse Teen Combo at the Kingston location and quite enjoyed it. Following a long day on the highway in rain yesterday, I stopped at the Napanee A&W drive thru to take dinner home. I had ordered the Steakhouse Teen Combo again and was looking forward to it. However, when I opened the bag the burger was not as ordered. The wrapper indicated a Uncle or Mozza burger, not the Steakhouse, and it was without a doubt the worst burger I have had. It was cold, with no onion, bacon, ketchup or mustard. It only had what I believe was mayonnaise, but there was so little of it, I could not be sure. The meat had been burned and dried out. The onion rings were also cold and the coating falling of of them. It being 7:29 PM at the time, they were not busy and I suspect that this meal had sat on a warming tray for some time. I checked the receipt and they had certainly charged me for the Steakhouse Combo. I have been a customer of A&W for many years, but that may no longer be the case. We come to the Napanee, ON Canada A&W on our way to and from camp. My daughter loves it there. It is clean, they are quick to serve, good food and have good customer service. I wouldn’t normally leave a review for a fast food chain but when we went there on the way up to camp they messed our order up, then charged me extra money for ordering another burger instead of just replacing it. The manager/owner apologized and gave my daughter a sucker. Which I thought was decent of him. Then on the way back from camp we stopped and I had ordered two fries but only received one. When I brought it to their attention they said I didn’t get charged for two and left me standing there in their haste as it was busy. I was kind of mad but brushed it off and sat back down w my daughter to finish eating. Then 2 minutes later he walked out and handed us a thing of fries. I was appreciative of that, and decided to leave a review, because in today’s world good customer service is hard to find. Their front counter workers were MIA multiple times. Many other workers saw there was a lineup at the front counter waiting for several minutes without anyone serving us. One customer even left when he saw no one helping us. When I spoke up when one worker walked by, I asked if I could please have 2 takeout cups (to put my kids leftover drinks in), he said "I'm not even supposed to be working up here" with attitude. When I told him that no one was working the counter, he pointed to the person at the drive-thru window. Why should the worker at the drive-thru window have to work two jobs? When he's at the drive-thru window, he can't see the lineup at the front cash. This location needs to be staffed better and also have their front staff better trained. They shouldn't be walking by a lineup up without at least letting us know that someone will be helping us shortly. Everyone ignored us. Another note to add, it took them 8+ minutes to make 1 teen burger and 2 x cheese buddy meals. That's far too long to wait for "fast food".
