Quite disappointing for a Harvey's. Harvey's is one of our go-to fast food places, because the food is reliably good and the service is good as well, but in this case, we were disappointed in several aspects. I'm not sure if the process in this location is unique, or if it a new model for Harvey's in general. If it is a new model, I hope they change their minds and go back to the old way. First of all, the food was the usual Harvey's great for most of us (we had a group of five), but one of us did not get her sandwich prepared the way she asked, and that was entirely due to the process at this location. Normally at a Harvey's, you place your order at the cash, pay, and go stand at the counter and tell the person preparing your burger how you want it prepared. If there is an issue, it can be corrected right there. At this place, they treated the walk-in customers as if they were passing through the drive-through. We were asked what we wanted on our burgers at the cash, which caused some delay, since we were not prepared to answer those questions at that stage, and it made the process at the cash slower. Then when we walked to the counter to wait for our order to be prepared, we were told, and quite rudely at that, to go away and wait elsewhere in the restaurant and that our food would be brought to us. As a result, we ended up with too many straws (we got our own not knowing they would be added in the bag with our order), not enough napkins (none were available at the drinks station), one sandwich not made as requested, and a job to sort out which sandwich belonged to each person because it was all in one bag, rather than individual orders. All that could have been prevented if we had been allowed to stay at the counter and watch as our orders were prepared. Read moreThe person assembling our burger was grumpy and rude (and possibly racist) while assisting us. We had asked her if it was possible to cut our burger, to which she groaned and took a knife cut the burger and whipped the knife across the counter. It was such a negative experience! Additionally, traveling with my grandmother who cannot hold the medium cup size, I asked for a smaller cup so we can pour out the medium beverage we had purchased. The staff audibly made prejudice comments to assume we were attempting to take more pop, even though the cups were not being refilled and small cup being used to only share the beverage from the medium cup. I felt saddened and disappointed in the service at this Harvey’s. I don’t think I will be returning to Harvey’s if they hire people who clearly have limited customer service. As a colored person living in Canada for more than 25 years, I can only hope blatant racism wasn’t the reason for such a negative experience, but it’s important to note that all the non-coloured customers before and after us didn’t seem to receive such treatment. My wife pointed this out to the staff and they immediately removed them and asked the cook to prepare other's, she hit the roof and started yelling at them and started that she could not deal with this?????? That is her job if you cant deal with it LEAVE . When the food dis arrive my bun was STALE AND HARD. Took it back and was asked if I would like another? I said no. You have a PIG working in the kitchen and I do not care to eat anything she puts out. This is the 2nd time for me that things were wrong. That's in two visits. First visit missed the speaker were you order. Nobody behind me so I pulled up to the window and explained what happened. They would not take my order for a rootbeer unless I went back around to the speaker. Complained to Harveys and was told I would receive an email with some coupons that never came either.
