Orient Restaurant — Restaurant in Greater Sudbury

Three strikes and you're out! I've been eating at the orient since it's restaurant was it's own place at the end of Barrydowne in the 1980's. I've always told people that this was the place to go for Chinese food in sudbury. This WAS true until the last year or so. It was starting to go downhill- not as good quality, shortcuts and prices increased (like everywhere else). First time mistake, the teriyaki steaks were a little pungent a few months back. Wrote it off and simply threw them out because their food had always been superb. Second time mistake, ordered their deep fried wings last month. When we got them and they looked skinless, tasted and appeared that they were STRONGLY fermented in soy sauce overnight and were pan fried instead. They were just too salty, grey and gross. This time it was all about the chicken balls. One didn't even have meat in it, the chicken had some foreign objects in it. ( no it was not a blood dot) and the batter had something cooked into it that can only be described as 2 little black protrusions attached at the base. I was ordering for someone who happened to have a medical condition which causes a lot of food allergies and intolerances

I asked for no egg, no mushrooms, and no peas No eggs? That's fine No mushrooms? Sure No peas? Suddenly wanting to add on 2 dollars for "Making a fresh batch" and not with the things before?

I understand to some extent as it's a lot to 'change'- but you're adding on cost for both less food AND in the face of food allergies/insensitivities, which are out of a person's control.

Not to mention the implication of "Having to make a fresh batch" for an order of what is supposed to be fresh to order?

Have eaten here before; food was -okay- but the one I was ordering for was REALLY craving Chinese so I was going to give it another shot and order with them; this lack of care and consideration put me off the...

I was very hopeful when we found The Orient Restaurant. They made their food well and it was fair priced however the customer service is very disappointing. When I called to tell them that they mixed up my order. A woman argued that she was right and that we told her wrong. I was stunned by the brazen attitude to shout in the phone and the lack of customer service. She finally agreed to deliver us the correct dish however demanded the incorrect dish back. She even accused me of eating the dish and hung up on me. I'm still waiting for the delivery driver but I doubt he'll come by. I won't return...
