Was in this mom and pop plaza in south hamilton. I was interested in the sub place but then I decided to go somewhere I'd been before when this fish and chip spot caught my eye. What I did not realize is it was 30 mins to closing, probably because there were several people inside. Had I known it was close to closing I would not have gone, it was only 7pm for context. Ordered a chowder (new!), mushy peas and a fish sandwich. The mushy peas were very bland, the peas were not sweet or tasty at all. The chowder was surprisingly good. One of the staff mentioned clam chowder but this is not clam chowder, its very similar but its chock full of scallops baby shrimp and maybe crab or it could have just been more scallops. Really good. Nothing fancy but good ratio of potato to other stuff, really enjoyed the soup. Now for what should have been the star, the "fish" sandwich. Not haddock cod or halibut or else they would say. Now, on tuesdays and wednesdays (today is tuesday) they have a special "fish and chips" for 6.99 which is an incredible deal, but its fish so whatever they choose. By contrast the fish sandwich is 8.99 or 8.50 I can't remember, but 8 something. If you cant tell from the picture, the fish filled half of the bread. The bread was ok, old I'd say. They put way too much tartar sauce. The fish was dry around the edges and even in the middle the fish was barely there. I bet for 6.99 I would have gotten double the fish and alot of fries. This made me feel ripped off. Now I shouldnt complain about the price, things are expensive and 8.99 is about average for a fish sandwich. But I had an arbys fish sandwich last week there was double the amount of fish better bread. They might be making their own tartar sauce which is a nice touch, but it was globbed on so much it was a tartar sandwich with a hint of fish. Its probably my fault for going in so close to closing and also my fault for not eating fries so i opted for the more expensive sandwich option. I paid a total of 19 and change for a half decent chowder....
Read moreOn Jan 24th around 330pm I called and placed 3 separate orders of fish n chips. When I arrived the woman put fries in 1 box and 3 fish in another box.. I told her that when I placed an order of 3 fish and chips, that I'm expecting 3 boxes of fish and chips ..because the order is for 3 people.. me pointing that out immediately resulted in attitude and was told that next time I order I need to tell then to put my 3 separate orders of fish n chip's in 3 different boxes. Because that how they usually do things So as shes making more fries shes slamming everything and displaying poor body language.. when asked for more tarter souce which she only gave me 2, i was met with more attitudeamd was said she would have to charge me... furthermore to my understanding if someone orders 3 meals that should result to 3 boxes.. in covid times common sense should tell you to separate meals ..if someone orders 3 meals why would you put everything together..not to mention her trying to shorten me on fries.. because when I asked for them to be separated she had to make more fries.. so it's either she's lazy or they trying save money on fries.. it's quite clear my money isn't welcomed here anymore. If I didn't come here in the past I would of said these guys are racist but becaus3 I've been here several times I know that not Tobe true. Read moreI went in to buy just a bottle of water for a senior I was taking care of she was hot and tired from the walk, we came out standing on the curb so she could drink the water mask down and an employee came out asking to help!!!I was so taken back to the fact that she went out her way just to help, but it didn’t stop there, she offered us to come back in and sit down just so my client could catch a breath, which we did and the service we received it was just breath taking, too see how a group of employees came together just to offer amazing act of kindness. They went out their way to bring a cold cloth to help cool her down, gave us free food so she could eat, even went out the way to get a wheelchair!!!!!! This is how a company should be run with employees that will go out their way for their customers….Even tho we only went in with a bottle of water we left with a huge smile and a happy spirit…..I just want to say on behalf of my client a big thank you to all those employees that work September 15 sometime between 3-5pm you truly made her day and she felt amazing and you guys helped to bring back great memories for her. She’s been here 68 years, and she use to come all the time but times changed as she got older and not able to like once before.
