We have been meaning to visit Main Kitchen for some time but were never able to go...but good things come to those who wait. We were not disappointed by the array of tapas style dishes that came forth...zucchini blossoms (delicious), baked jerk black cod (tasty), Moroccan short rib (excellent) and from the blackboard menu...Creole prawns (great)...with meringue pie and cinnamon bunuelos for dessert (both very good). The atmosphere is apropos for the town...chill, relax and welcoming with a good toe tapping music play list on the background (but the volume was not overwhelming). Service was on point and attentive. All in all highly recommended and worth the drive if you are coming from Montreal.

Main Kitchen is truly a hidden gem in Hudson, and it's worth every bit of the trip! Their menu is packed with creative, flavorful dishes that never disappoint. I especially love the small plates concept—it's perfect for trying a variety of their tasty options. Each dish feels original, thoughtfully prepared, and bursting with flavor. And as a bonus, it's BYOW, which just adds to the experience. Can't believe I waited this long to write this review, but after countless amazing meals, it's time to give them the praise they deserve. If you haven’t been yet, you're missing out!

Excellent food and service. Sarah and Jay worked wonders preparing our scrumptious food with gusto. Bryanna, our server, went to extremes offering not only our dishes but describing their mouth watering attributes. Super friendly and accommodating establishment, will definitely return for another memorable evening. It's somewhat pricey compared to your day to day restaurant; however, fairly represents the superlative quality of plates and 5 star Michelin star chef and team that graces the kitchen. Bravo and encore

I was at the New Year’s supper at 7:00 pm.

I gave them the opportunity to serve me once again after the experience from one of the servers that demanded more money for a tip on my last reservation mid October 2024 ( you can read below the Manager’s reply ).

Unfortunately, she was present New Years dinner as well as the same server from October and they both are part of my complaint.

Unfortunately, this supper experience was the worst. The food was excellent, however the service was inexistant.

The two servers never ackowledged us after the girl front the front reception seated us.

We arrived and were seated at 7:00 pm. None of the two waitresses ever came to acknowledge our presence.

Everyone that arrived and seated after us were greeted, explained the menu and served food.

We never had any servers come to see us. It took the head Chef Jay Dreger that was in charge of the appetiser station to notice we were waiting over 35 minutes without any service at all.

He came over to our table asking us if we had our appetisers from his station. We had to tell him that nobody had ever came to see us since we were seated and still waiting for anyone to come to explain the menu and bring us the appetisers.

Everyone was served the appetisers ( first course on the menu )…

Jay had to complain twice to the waitress why we were not served after 35 minutes. Appetiser came 10 minutes later. They were just deposited on the table without any words nor apologies for ignoring us from the waitress.

Second course came around 8:15. Third course came around 8:45 and dessert at 9:15.

Nobody ever came to explain the menu, apologize for the delays, or anything. It was as if we did not even exist seated at one of your tables situated along the wall near the server’s access to the kitchen counter. They both passed all night seing us waiting to be acknowledged.

After being served the dessert, we left without anyone of the staff ever ackowledging our presence.

I am extremely disapointed that we had to prepay a 18% service charge onna $129 per person meal for NOT having any service at all.

Two waitresses on duty ( including the general manager ) both ignored us as customers.

I have no words for being treated so badly ( rudely ).

Reply from last October:

Hi Michel,

We would like to sincerely apologize for your recent experience at Main Kitchen this past Wednesday. There are many moving parts to running a successful restaurant, and unfortunately, in some cases, no amount of training can prevent what transpired. We do not condone the server's actions and therefore we immediately addressed the incident once it was brought to our attention.

We recognize that you have been a loyal customer to us, and we appreciate your continued support. We hope you will allow us the opportunity to serve you again. Our promise is to continue to deliver the same enjoyable experience you have consistently received for many years - from start to finish.

Once again, please accept our apologies.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Bryanna Clarke General Manager / Gérant Main Kitchen

Posted October 2024:

I am a regular customer that spend annually between $750 - $1,000 / year at this restaurant.

Tonight, I left a tip of $15.00 on a $130.00 bill before tax. I wanted to leave a $18.00 tip but made a mistake on the terminal and could not make a correction.

The waitress came to me as I was leaving asking if I was unhappy with the service. I guess she expected a minimum tip of $23,00 on the total bill with government tax. I pay normally 15% tip before tax which is what is fair.

I found this insulting to ask for more money.

Restaurant just lost a loyal faithful returning customer on this...

Would give my experience more a minus 5 than a one star if it were possible! First time at this restaurant last night Saturday and it qualifies as one of the most worst experience for me in a dining place. Service is very lousy-goosey and absent in providing the most minimal of attention that most restaurants provide, starting with a wait of over 10 minutes on arrival to even be acknowledged by someone at the entrance to confirm our reservation and to access our table. The service or rather the lack of attentive service continues from this point on. Took a while for our server to show, while a bottle of water shows that we had to pour on our own. Its great that we get to bring our own wine, but take note that the deal is that you get to pour it yourself during the complete meal!!! The menu and the presentations shown online are nothing like the disappointing reality of what it really is. A bunch of disappointing and varied "unconnected" tapas make up the whole offering, except for one item on the daily menu! Did not pick up that Tapas was the only offering at this restaurant from their site, and given the rather spectacular and generous pictures, one thinks that this is a complete dining offering which it is not. For the first items ordered, one of us never got their dish as the server forgot it, and only after we waved down the un-attentive server and asked about it, did she acknowledge the miss, but it took more than 10 more minutes for the Bison burger to arrive! Two of us had the $49 Veal on the daily menu which arrived overcooked and burnt edges, dry and unappealing in the presentation with a blob of barely warm pasta. Should have returned it but neither of the two of us wanted to make a scene as both dishes were the same. Other items ordered were somewhat ok but disappointing both in presentation and quantity for the steep prices charged. Two of us had the creme brule which was a joke as it was barely 1/8th of an inch thick with a sugar crust and nothing beneath. And may I mention that this dining experience disaster was accompanied with an extremely loud environment, more like a bar than appropriate for dining as we had to yell at one another to have conversation, next to impossible, adding to a non-relaxed experience. Sorry to provide such a negative review but I am compelled to expose what the poor expensive experience this has been, an absolute first time for me to write such a review. Bottom line advice is...that if you don't care.....go there! They don't...

Great food but BEWARE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES

I know I’m writing this review way after the fact but I’ve been thinking about this for so long that I feel like I need to get it out there. I went with my husband and parents in August 2023 and we made it clear from the start that my husband is allergic to fish. We were very careful to check that what we were ordering did not contain fish and were reassured that it did not. Yet it’s lucky that I taste food for my husband as the first dish we received had anchovies in it and I could taste it. When I asked they confirmed and apologized. We figured it’s okay they made one mistake. And yet we ordered a main dish to share and once again one of the sauces had anchovies. Normally if something like this happens someone should have come to the table to apologize and we would be given that dish free or something to make up for this big mistake that could have been life threatening. But nothing happened. We paid the whole bill and nobody came to talk to us. It was like « oops sorry » and not taken seriously. I really like the food here so it pains me to write this but we will never be going back. I’ve even seen other reviews that struggled...
