Roof Hound Brewing Co. — Restaurant in Kingston

Okay, so I was staying at the Aurora Inn all week long last week on a work trip.

I did a little research and I really liked the sound of the Roof Hound. So before I was halfway through the week I swung over there for supper.

I ordered a Mad Dog burger with bacon.

It was monstrous. I mean, freaking huge. A man with a beard like me ought to know better than to order something like that, but by God, it was GOOD!

It tasted like about five hamburgers smashed together into a wondrous, cozy feast!

Dang, it was good.

I had a Handsome Devil dark milk stout that pasted the kind of grin onto my face that is normally reserved for Heisenberg Blue Meth (for all you Breaking Bad fans).

Except this beer broke good. Smooth, tasty, and so stiff you could have built a house onto that pint of beer.

I had fries with the burger that were absolutely perfect. Thick, crisp, browned nicely, lord thundering I want to write a sonata regarding this meal.

So, did I like it?

I liked it enough that two days later, when my work partner pooped out and decided to have her meal in her room I walked on down to the Roofhound, barked twice, and ordered the same darned meal.

My only regret is that I neglected to notice an experimental brew that was a chocolate mint stout. I mean, doesn't that just scream for a scoop of ice cream? A dark beer float, now that idea floats my boat.

Great service.

My one warning is that when you walk in you might think that it's a bit of a dive. I mean, some of the furniture looks like they might have pulled it out of a yard sale. But listen, you didn't walk in for decor, now did you?

You came for the burger!

So, if you are a for-real burger fanatic like me, then you REALLY ought to get yourself into the Roofhound.

And try that Mad...

I am in shock. I cannot believe the customer service I just received from them trying to place an order for pickup. And by the so called manager! He hung up on me three times! The first time I called I asked for 3 burgers to be picked up, he said it could be ready at 1240. It was currently 1220, then I asked instead of pork patties if we could get beef. He huffed and puffed and said it would be an extra $4 ( i have ordered this before and there was no additional charge) so I asked him why there would be an extra fee when there wasn't before. He then huffed and puffed again and said sorry I can't deal with this we are too busy and actually just hung up the phone. I called back he answered and hung right back up again. I called again and asked if there was someone I could speak to because I had just tried to place an order and was hung up on twice. He said yes ma'am that was me I am the manager! Manager! His computer is down and he is overwhelmed. I said well as the manager you should be able to deal with that and he replied well we are just too busy and hung up. WILD! Me and my sister are honestly speechless. I used to love this place but now I will never ever go to or order from them again after this. Unbelievable. The manager!? Just wow. Wtg nova...

I had been to Roof Hound before with friends and we enjoyed our meals both times. I was excited for my husband to try it tonight. We were seated quickly, and the meal came soon after. Sadly, when I started to eat my Blue Hawaiian burger I realized it was not the right burger. I am not fussy, so thought I could eat it anyway. However, it was very pink for my taste and the bun which normally is delicious was cold. My husband Mad Dog Burger 's bun was also cold . The fries were very good and I ate those. After a few bites I couldn't continue trying to eat the burger and called the waitress over. She realized she did press the wrong button and apologized. She offered to order the right one , but I didn't feel like trying another burger by that time. I said no , but would appreciate some money off my bill, since she had admitted it was her mistake. I should have gotten the right burger to go ( my fault) she only took 3$ off our bill, not even the cost of half the burger or even an order of fries. I usually don't write reviews and probably had the wrong burger been better I wouldn't have complained, but things are so expensive these days it is frustrating to go out for a good meal and be...
