After a beautiful fall visit to Point Pelee NP, we stopped for a late lunch at Freddy’s. In conversation with the owner, we mentioned that we were staying at the quaint Grove Hotel in nearby downtown Kingsville. He says “don’t miss breakfast at Jim’s Sub Shop just 2 doors away”. A Sub Shop for breakfast? Really? We walked from the Grove the next morning to discover a sparkling clean family restaurant with a friendly welcome from the staff. The regular menu was full of the standard breakfast fare, but the Monthly Specials caught our eye, especially the Bruschetta Eggs Benedict. After a few short minutes with our coffee, the “Bennies” arrived. Wow! A beautiful presentation, complete with balsamic drizzle. And perfectly done eggs with soft yolks, and great bruschetta over thick garlic toast. It was clear that this was no ordinary Sub Shop. As we dined, we were carefully attended by the Staff, who we learned were all family, spanning 3 generations. The youngest is a culinary school graduate, which helped to explain this great food with an unexpected presentation. It was clear that we aren’t the first to discover this jewel. A steady stream of locals walked through the door, each greeted with a warm welcome and hot coffee. We are pleased to give this spot a full five star ★★★★★ rating.

From the minute we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff who welcomed us and, within minutes, had steaming coffee & beverages to enjoy while trying to decide what to order. Not something that I would normally order, I decided on the “Hookie” Benedicts. WOW! It was beyond amazing!!! Popping hot, beyond delicious and a good sized meal portion. My husband ordered the Pizza Burger Omelet, again… piping hot and like eating a large Breakfast Pizza but with a crazy omelet twist. Coffee was “topped up” at least 4 times during our meal and we were checked on often by staff. The restaurant had a cozy “home-feel”, was steady busy with a friendly atmosphere, and the place was spotless (including the washrooms). An overall top-notch experience from beginning to end!

Friend at work suggested I drive out from Windsor to try the Eggs Benedict. He told me it would be the best I ever had, and I was not disappointed. The Hollendaise was spot on and not runny or fake. My Peameal Bacon was essentially a small steak. You definitely get more for your money here than at other establishments in terms of quality and quantity, which is very refreshing. I appreciate a small local business and admire the home esthetic. It feels like I'm in a family kitchen and not some cookie-cutter restaurant. Will definitely come back to try more menu items in the future.

Where do I begin? On the outside, Jim's Sub Shop looks pretty ordinary. Once you enter, however, you realize there's nothing ordinary about it! It's also bigger inside than it looks!

My husband and I were greeted with a very warm welcome, accompanied by the words, "We will take care of you."

Our server was the owner, Jim. He informed us they just put on a fresh pot of coffee! He also mentioned that the "September Specials" were doing very well. I had noticed they had Eggs Benedict on their September Specials and conveyed my hesitancy because the menu description said they were on top of French toast. I wasn't sure if I would like that, but Jim said lots of customers had originally said that as well, but then they tried it and loved it! Ok, I was willing to try something new, and Jim was such a convincing salesman!

Our food arrived in a short amount of time. Everything was fresh and hot. Jim came to ask my opinion on the Sweet September Benny. I said I actually really liked it (he was right!). I said it was great that it didn't have syrup on it and that the bacon being crispy was just so perfect. I commented that you can tell the chef really knows what they're doing!

Coffee refills came without having to ask. We were told to pay up front once we were finished, but there was no rush.

This was our first time here (we're new-ish to the area), but it won't be our last! Kingsville is so lucky to have a great selection of restaurants to choose from. Make sure Jim's Sub Shop is on your list, too.

Thank you to all the staff that served us and spoke with us. What a great way to...

5/5 Stars - A True Homecoming Experience!

I've been a loyal customer of Jim’s Sub Shop for as long as I can remember, and after a brief hiatus, I'm thrilled to report that it feels like I never left. This beloved family establishment has once again exceeded my expectations with its warm hospitality, impeccable service, and mouth-watering cuisine.

From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with genuine smiles and open arms. The staff's welcoming demeanor made me feel like part of the family, just as I had grown accustomed to over the years. It's clear that Jim’s takes pride in fostering a sense of community, and it's refreshing to see that some things remain unchanged.

The food, as always, was outstanding. Classic dishes that I've loved since childhood remain unchanged, and the quality continues to impress. Every bite was a testament to the kitchen's dedication to using only the freshest ingredients and time-honored techniques.

What truly sets Jim’s apart, however, is its exceptional service. The staff's attention to detail, kindness, and genuine interest in ensuring a memorable dining experience are traits that can't be replicated. It's evident that this is a family-run business that genuinely cares about its customers.

If you're a longtime fan like me or just discovering Jim’s, rest assured that you'll be treated like family. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and reliving the warmth and comfort that only this special place can provide.

Highly...

It’s unfortunate but perhaps worth a share. My husband and I were visiting the Kingsville area. We were planning a full day of driving and I needed to have a healthy breakfast. We walked along the strip of Main Street and came across Jim’s Sub. We entered and were warmly greeted by, I can only assume, Jim. As we looked for a table I exclaimed that I felt like we were in the right place. My husband and I sat down. We ordered coffee and juice while we looked over the menu. When the daughter came to take our order I ordered two eggs with bacon, my husband explained that his stomach was a little upset and would just be having coffee and juice. We knew my order came with toast and figured he would take a slice of that to help settle his stomach. Here’s the unfortunate part, when my order was delivered to the table, the server literally snatched my husband’s cutlery from the table, exclaiming that he would not be needing them. Talk about embarrassing! At this point other customers took notice. It was embarrassing and shameful. My husband is in congestive heart failure and is on some heavy dose medication that affects his stomach making any type of food in the morning undesirable. This is just a friendly reminder to Jim and his family that not all customers are looking to take advantage and it is not necessary to shame people. Look twice at the individual before you act. Having said that, I will say that the breakfast was delicious, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as...
