We were visiting Kingsville from the UK and we decided to try this Italian restaurant, due to the favourable reviews.
Having eaten in many Italian restaurants around the world, I can honestly say this was not a good experience:
Saturday evening and it was packed, far too noisy and you couldn’t hear yourself think, never mind speak!
Service was terrible. Given no cutlery and had to ask for it when food arrived. Food kept arriving before previous plates cleared. Didn’t check food was ok with each course served. Waitress appeared with food bill in hand, placed on table and then asked if we wanted deserts as an afterthought, seriously! Also got all friendly as it was gratuity time. Card machine didn’t give option for no tip, so she got 10 cents!
Re food, antipasta, consisted of what seemed like cheap packet meats and other random stuff. Meatball main consisted of 2 meat balls, loads of overly sweet sauce and hardly any pasta. My wife’s chicken pasta was ok, but far too over facing.
I have no idea what the random leaf salad is for, which comes with pasta dishes.
If you want a nice meal, go to Elite across the road, the other restaurant we visited, which was top notch 👌🏻
Apologies for the rant, I don’t often give negative reviews, but this spoiled our last night...
Read moreWent here on valentines day. Terrible experience, food made me throw up. I never write 1 star reviews, this is my first. Had a $50 gift card provided by the Grove Hotel. When I got to this restaurant, had a reso but still took a while to be seated. Waitress dropped off the menu and I got first drinks quickly, but that was it. Ordered a chicken pizza and squash pasta.Took over an hour to come out. Paid $10 EXTRA to upgrade from soup to salad. The salad was terrible. Tasted a refrigerated box salad from costco. The pizza was cold and the chicken on it tasted old & rubbery. The squash pasta was cold on the inside. Only ate half my food. The waitress never did a 2-bite check. I would have sent the food back or asked to just leave without paying if she did. When the waitress did come at the end of the meal, she still never asked how the food was. Instead the first thing she did was offer a take-out box for half of the food that remained on the table. Nobody asked how the meal was, nobody checked on us. I just paid the bill (still tipped) and left. I left the food and empty take-out box on the table. Went home, within 1 hour I was vomiting in the washroom. Save yourself the trouble. When you book at the Grove Hotel, ask for a gift-card to a...
Read moreDrove in from Windsor for my daughter’s 21st birthday, 4 of us with reservations. The place was packed both up and down. Had a couple appetizers, bottle of wine….. an’ then we waited, about an hour an’ a half for our entrees (which were absolutely delicious) As the waitress served the entree’s she apologized about the long wait and offered us free dessert (we had a cake at home waiting for us) We were fairly agitated an’ said we’d rather be compensated for our patience on our bill, she said she’d send the owner over. We would’ve been satisfied with just an appetizer taken off the bill, instead the owner defended the wait time (completely shocked by his defiance) I mentioned that they acknowledged the wait was long by offering us the free dessert an’ he completely threw his waitress under the bus for even doing so. Poor owner in my opinion, for the sake of keeping the customer happy ($15 maybe?) He let the 4 of us leave unsatisfied, to tell our story for the next few days with friends and work colleagues an’ anyone else who’ll listen. Sadly our great waitress was denied a tip (out of pure frustration and anger on our part) Felt...
