I was in the mood for a good poutine, so I turned to Google for suggestions and came across The Manitou Takeout. Based on the reviews and local buzz, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the chicken poutine, beef poutine, and also tried their chicken and fish sandwiches. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the food to be worth the price or the hype. While I haven’t eaten poutine from countless places, I have had some truly good poutines and sandwiches in the past, and this just didn’t compare for me. The flavors didn’t quite match my expectations, and overall, it didn’t leave me wanting to come back. That said, taste is subjective — it’s entirely possible that my palate simply isn’t accustomed to their style or seasoning. Many people seem to enjoy this spot, so it might still be worth trying if you’re curious. But personally, I wouldn’t rate it as a standout in Kitchener’s food scene.

I brought a group of 6 here today and I'm the only one who has been here before. I'm glad to report that Manitou Takeout has earned 5 more new customers. We ordered a classic poutine, a pulled pork poutine, a roast beef poutine, a pickle poutine, chicken fingers and 2 hamburgers. Everything we ordered was fulfilled properly and took less than 15 minutes. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Generous portions, plenty of dark and delicious gravy and crispy fries. The pulled pork was delicious and not spicy. The roast beef was tender and very flavourful. The staff were friendly and efficient.

I ordered pulled pork potine. The meat was ok but the fries actually was badly fried. The fries was sort of dark brown in colour and since it was hidden underneath the pulled pork, I couldn't see it untill I got home. It is very likely that the person knew that it was too fried and is not eatable but still decided to hide it , pack it and serve. See the picture..Very unprofessional. I will never go to this place again or recommend this place to anyone...

Good customer service, fast service, the burgers were a let down though. Very clearly frozen, not grilled or charred by any meals. I was looking forward to trying a good burger out here in Kitchener, very disappointed :(

In response to the owner's snarky comment on my review, the fresh cut fries aren't something you should be proudly promoting, there was nothing "fresh" about them. They looked like day old fries that were tossed in the fryer multiple times. As for the burgers, a quick stop to No Frills to grab a box of No Name hamburgers would genuinely be such an improvement on the quality and taste of the burgers. The light grey and brown color of the burgers that you serve is truly revolting. No where in my original review did I say that you implied you sold fresh burgers, but maybe do more than toss them in a microwave or whatever you've been doing to get the results you've been serving to the public. I most certainly will not be returning to spend any more money on the "food" you serve here. I complimented what I saw working and I gave constructive criticism in my original review, if you cannot take suggestions and feedback then it's best to take yourself off of Google Maps so you don't receive any more feedback...

I don't come as often and haven't been in awhile, due to recent diet restrictions. I was out with a friend last week and needed a good place for a quick meal, close to home. Manitou seemed to fit the bill. It was nice to see the menu still had the usual delicious choices and daily specials. We both ordered the pulled pork (I no longer eat wheat, and got 50 cents off in lieu of no bun - a very nice gesture) and fries. The pork was really good and the fries were great as usual. It was a Friday evening, raining and busy, so I expected the 10 - 12 minutes or so wait for our food. My friend had a time commitment to pick up his child with special needs, so we ended up turning a sit-down meal into a takeout. It was his first time at The Manitou TakeOut and was glad that I recommended it. Just a couple suggestions... Perhaps a couple gluten-free menu items... And an upgrade option to the current fish selection - I know that I would pay more for a fresh, grilled fish (which could easily be gluten free)... You would probably see...
