The course is decent overall, but the staff anchor the course down at one star. The girls in the pro shop are unwelcoming at best, but that's tolerable because you really only have to deal with them once. It's the incessant harrassment from the marshalls that really ruins your day. Rate of play is roughly 4 hours 20 mins per 18 holes and we came in at around 4 and a half hours. I understand it can be frustrating playing behind slow golfers sometimes, but we weren't that far off pace and playing in a foursome with two women who have never played in their lives. A marshall followed us on the entire back nine telling us to hurry up and then a girl from the pro shop came out to remind us that we were slow once we wrapped up on the 18th hole. Like I said, we came in around 10 mins off pace and we weren't being disrespectful or anything. Two players from our group were simply not good golfers and that slowed us down a bit. It's a public course and not a high end course by any means. I just can't even comprehend the negative culture there.if you're a decent golfer then sure, go out and enjoy yourself. You probably won't run into any problems but they do overbook like crazy and harrass you about pace of play any chance they get. Like I said, it's a decent course; mature, good for beginner to mid range golfers, staff (more specifically the marshalls) is horrible. Moral of the story is this, it's a beginner to intermediate public course that thinks it's a pristine private golf club. Personally I won't be supporting them anymore and wouldn't recommend to anyone. Whatever, it...
Read moreNice little course located in a city setting. You do need to cross a busy road to access some of the holes - not a bad thing; but be aware. The course was in good shape overall. The starter (Ken) had an issue with us right from the beginning. (See other posts for similar complaints). We paid using the GolfNow application so we had one receipt for the entire foursome. This guy gave us a lot of grief individually and wanted to see a receipt from each of us. I showed him my receipt for the cart rental ... nope not good enough. We went back into the club house to confirm and they seemed a bit frustrated as well as they knew we had already paid - they called Ken and told him this. He still gave us a hard time and eventually said "FINE" you can play. I would give this place a better rating; but the Starter killed it for us. Also - we had to return the carts by 7:00 so we did not finish our round. The Marshall traced us down on the course to warn us. Still lots of light left; but the cart had to be back by 7:00 ... so we did not play the last...
Read moreStarter was very rude! I brought my wife out to play her first ever round of golf and the starter asked if she knew how to drive, inspected our carts and bags. I then asked him if everything was okay and he said that is none of your damn business. He then proceeded to pull the key out of the cart my wife was in after she teed off and then told us we can’t be on the course, because she had her clubs in another persons bag as she doesn’t have a golf bag yet. We were just looking for a fun family night out for her to try golf for the first time ever. After the starter called us more names and thief’s of all things we needed up heading to golfnorths river edge golf course where we were welcomed with open arms and the starter and manager said golf is for everybody and you should never be treated like that for trying to get into the game of golf. I used to love rockway, but now I will...
